RF2: Time Factors

In the HM games, you have to complete certain things by a certain period of time or the game is over, right?
I believe there was a HM game where the story ended after 2 years...or something like that, and then the game was finished.

And now in RF2, you have to marry the girl you want before the rival's marriage date occurs, correct?
But could you just marry one of the girls who does not have a match-up and ignore the time factor?

Also, for the 2nd gen., are there any time restraints? IE. Do I need to complete the story or events (etc.) in a certain amount of time (ie. game years)?

Thanks and I hope this wasn't too intelligible. I'm a bit tired.

I believe that is the SNES game, one of the very first HM games completed.

Uhm. Sure. In RF2, however, FP/LP goes up extremely fast, people are able to get married as early as summer of their first year. I was married on the 27th of Summer of year 1.

Yeah.

I don't think so. Not many games do much time limit thing much anymore, beyond the occasional "Rival Marriage is 4th year" kind of stuff. I know the SNES version did and Save the Homeland had time limit stuff, but RF2 doesn't really have much time limit in it. Some quests need to be finished that day, but they're not difficult quests.

Besides, if you wait to get married till the rivals are married...you are going to be so bored.

Innocent Life also has a time limit. You have to complete the story within 2 or 3 years, or the island will be destroyed, and you'll have to start all over. If you manage to complete the storyline before that happens, though, you can play indefinitely.

A Wonderful Life has a definite time limit, and Another Wonderful Life and A Wonderful Life SE (and Another Wonderful Life SE, if that exists) also sorta have time limits in the form of 6 chapters, each of which last 1-3 years, but a seventh chapter was added with no time limit to allow you to play indefinitely after the end of the game (nothing ages--even your livestock won't die of old age!), so...

I can't remember if there were any other Harvest Moon games that had anything resembling a time limit.

^Back To Nature kind of had a time limit. You had to make a successful farm and befriend everyone in 3 years or you would get kicked out.

But yeah, RF2 doesn't really have a time limit.

Ah, yes, those were the time limits I was talking about. I hate those so much. I'd rather take my time and figure everything out for myself instead having to use guides just so you don't lose all your hard work when the game ends in failure. You know, actually enjoy the game the way you want to.

The RF games (DS ones at least) are infinetely playable you could wait 8 years if you wanted to before you get married. Time restraints only exist in RF2 and only if you want to marry certain women.
