So anyways, when I was in Game (that is a UK games shop) checking out the due out games list, Rune Factory was on the list. I think it might be number one, I can't completely remember. So, I preordered it, so I'll be a Rune Factory game player in March!!
So here are my questions:
1: Do I have to farm? (Could I do other things to earn money instead of farming.)
2: Do I have to give gifts to girls to woo them?
3: The wooing process isn't like HM is it, with the dumb heart events and stupid blue feather?
4: There must be animals, so what do I use to get milk, eggs and wool from?
5: How many animals can I have?
6: Is this a non-violent let's farm and be forever happy games? (Can I fight something if I wanted to?)
7: Marriage, do the wives pace around the table/or in a line like HM?
8: Who can I marry? (No need for pictures, just thier name and personality will do.)
9: Is there some structure to the game, instead of 'here's a farm get on with it'?
10: Are there sappy festivals?
I can't think of anymore questions at the minute, if I think of something else I'll post it.
Rune Factory (possibly number 1) questions...

It'll be the first game, the second one probably won't grace our shores until 2010.
Anyway, check out the actual pages for the game, here: http://fogu.com/hm/rune_factory/
I'll answer your questions here too.
1: Do I have to farm?
No. You can mine, forage, kill monsters and sell what they drop, or fish. You will need to grow some things to progress in a couple of parts in the game, but that's it.
2: Do I have to give gifts to girls to woo them?
I think you can get away with just talking to them, though it'll take a lot longer than gift-giving.
3: The wooing process isn't like HM is it, with the dumb heart events and stupid blue feather?
Nope. You just get their heart level to full, fulfil any special requirements they have, then you'll have the option of marrying them (it'll turn up when you talk to them).
4: There must be animals, so what do I use to get milk, eggs and wool from?
They're not called animals, they're called monsters. Essentially you can get cows, sheep and chickens, just with different names. There's also a bunch of new monsters, some of which will help out with farm work, others will help you fight, some you can ride.
5: How many animals can I have?
Er.. lots. Probably more than you'll ever desire to own. You can build up to seven barns, and upgrade them all to have three floors. Each floor can hold four monsters, so 84 monsters in total.
6: Is this a non-violent let's farm and be forever happy games? (Can I fight something if I wanted to?)
It's the most violent HM-esque game ever (with the possible exception of RF2 of course). You progress through the game by killing monsters and bosses.
7: Marriage, do the wives pace around the table/or in a line like HM?
Your wife is a zombie. She will never move. Ever. Also, she will randomly acquire a baby from somewhere.
8: Who can I marry? (No need for pictures, just thier name and personality will do.)
There's 11 bachelorettes, click here for more info
9: Is there some structure to the game, instead of 'here's a farm get on with it'?
Er.. not really at the start. You're given a farm, and you decide to investigate a cave. You find a load of foreign technology from the aggressive country next door and decide to see what's going on.
10: Are there sappy festivals?
Not really. There's a couple of optional one-to-one festivals with a girl of your choosing though.

1: You don't necessarily have to, fishing and mining are more profitable, unless you want to complete your shipping list
2: That depends on the girl you are interested in, for certain females, all you have to do is to talkto them everyday etc..but gifts may help.
3: Love levels are ranked from 1 to 10, not by color in RF
4: There are 'produce' monsters in this game, which you can tame and rear after you have built a barn
5: There is up to 3floors in 1 barn, and you have 7 barns, if I didn't remember wrongly, so that gives 21x4=84 animals, there is no restriction to types as well.
6: There are caves for you to explore as part of the storyline
of course, with monsters and bosses to defeat.
7: Not too sure about this cos I havent made up my mind as to which girl I'm marrying.

9: Well, there's a main storyline thats quite different from past HM games?
10: Yes. There are some new ones that weren't available in previous Hm games though.
Hope this helps.
RF2 is about the same with slight differences in plot, location etc.
