FroWell in my case I was too prepared. I end up with more woods than I ever need and have around 2 - 3 hundred thousands when it come to money.

Have you done most of the requests? They usually reward you with money and sometime 100 wood to boot. For money, you should mine everyday and plant crops that regrow in the dungeons. Ex: strawberry in Trieste forest, yam in Messhina valley, and pineapples on the island. If that's not fast enough to earn you that 50,000, just fish up char and sell it.

I was definitely overprepared. XD I had close to 3k wood and 500k money when I built it. (That dropped to 2k wood and 400k money after it was done). I chopped stumps and branches on my field every day and would chop branches and stumps throughout the day, specially when I was bored. Got wood from quests and stuff. Besides, if you clear your field, it will reproduce more stumps and branches the next day. Along with weeds and stuff, but ah.

And regrowing crops? AMAZING. =D My main source of income.

I was prepared. But as for 2nd Gen I MADE myself not prepared. I don't want it to be easy, I want it to be really hard - to make up for how much of a joke 1st Gen was in terms of difficulty.^^ So I destroyed all my dungeon crops and although I could get some of the statue items early, I won't. =P

Well, I have around 1.5k wood, and 300k for money. I'm guessing that I'm prepared... I'm not even married yet though! I keep putting it off because I can't choose who to marry. So I'm basically hibernating until I finally choose a girl!

It's true. Gen1 is really easy. I basically had like 100k on spring 10 year 1! I had Mana up to 10LP halfway through spring I think too. Way too easy.

I chose corn. Tomatoes and corn reproduced in the same time (3 days), but corn sold for more. Pineapples sell for even more, but they take twice as long to reproduce (6 days). So I planted corn in the first four plots and pineapple in the last two.

Yes, I was prepared. I chopped wood everyday to keep my fields clean and received wood as a thank you from some villager quests. As for the money... well... I sell everything I can find.

I was, and wasn't prepared.

I had way more than enough wood, but only about 70,000 g

I rushed, of course.

Over time, Pineapple will give the highest yield. It takes about 2 months for it to get ahead of Tomato. Tomato and Corn are pretty similar, depending on how much time you give them (in one month, they'll give 7,470 and 7,380 respectively. Pineapple will give 6,100 - but it will become more and more profitable with time, because the cost of seeds is what brings it down so much).
