Give me the pros & cons.

Does Tanya still sell all the basic things she sold in 1st gen when you switch over to 2nd gen? For example, the wand and battle axe.
Right now, i'm ready to get some new weapons to mix things up a bit (still in 1st gen), but i want to know the pros & cons of the battle hammer vs. the battle axe. Which is better? Stronger? Blows/Stuns enemies backwards? I don't want to buy both weapons, because i have no shelf space left, but i do want a new weapon to play around with. XD
Also, is the wand any good? (for those who are playing as mages)
Thank you! (price isn't an issue here, obviously.)

I personally like the Spear a lot. It has very good reach and it's pretty fast, though the animation's a bit weird... I find it does slightly more damage then the Broadsword per-combo (even though the Broadsword has 4-combo and the Spear has 3). Between Battle Hammer and Battle Axe, the hammer's stronger and has a better knockback rate (if you charge it, you "run" forward a bit and you hit for a very good amount of damage, 70-90) but the Axe is a bit faster and has a higher critical rate, so whichever one appeals to you. I don't find myself using the Battle Axe much at all for fighting, because charging doesn't increase its damage much, so I'd suggest the Battle Hammer if you're looking for a change, even though it takes a bit of getting used to.
EDIT: Oh, and the wand... well, Fireball does about 20-25ish damage without the wand, and the damage just about doubles with the wand to about 40-60ish (those are just general ranges). It's actually a fairly decent weapon too, if you charge it, it hits both the monster in front of you and it will release a projectile that can hit for half-decent damage (so if something's directly in front of you, you hit it twice, and if it's far away you can be a scaredy-cat and just fling projectiles at it). The combo rate is 0 and the range is horrible, but it does have that projectile thing going for it, plus increasing your damage with magic, so it's worth a try.

Alright, thanks. I've actually tested both weapons out on my game without saving, but i wanted some one else's opinion on it. I do want the battle hammer to mine for gold, however. A question tho..for anyone who's in 2nd gen, how hard is it to mine gold? Can you do it with a normal hammer?
And i only like the axe's slicy sound, hehe x] ..
Yea, i'll be buying the wand for sure, because my magic lvl is 55 and there's no point in wasting such hard practice. >.>; Maybe i'll play as half mage and half melee.

I actually upgraded my hammer into a silver hammer in Gen 2, because when you reach Gen 2 all your father's tools will become rusty throughout the years of disuse and you can't hold the tools and "charge" them for a stronger hit. For example you can't use a rusty hammer to break down large rocks because you can't "charge" the hammer.
I seem to find gold a lot in the Padova Mountains in Gen. 2, I also usually find platinum there, though usually only 1 piece of it..
Hope this helps

I bought all the best weapons from tanya (exept for short, I beat the bosses just before spring ended... then I reilised how expensive the dragon blade thing is D:
Axes and hammers use up 2X as much RP (in my opinion).
I got pwned trying to beat the tree boss with the axe (Ironic huh)
Shortswords are the best .(<---Period)
Well, that depends on the user, and what RA's you have

Then spears are the best.
Oh, and you find platinum 40% of the time in palmero, and there are lots of places to mine :D

I actually use my wand most, because I can sit back and shoot at monsters twice with fireball and they're dead. 8D Since RP is not an issue, I find the wand to be a very good choice.
Short swords are easiest to handle, of course, and have a long combo. My favorite of RF1, but generic.
Long swords are really fast and powerful...if you charge them. If not, they're slow and medium strength.
...That's all the weapons I've tried. o_o;;
