I normally just go in with a nice sword around 25 or so. That's Toros cave, right?

I went through the whole game with a one-handed sword, and I'm planning to do the same in RF2. I find it much easier to use than a two-handed sword, it takes too long to swing.

I've always stuck with the Windsword. If you level it up, it will work really nicely.

A 2 handed sword is slow and has a smaller combo, but it does more damage. A 1-handed sword has a larger combo, faster, and you can equip shields. I think that the 1-handed is better. Toros was the big lion thing right? I went in at lvl 20 with an ariel blade.

I do the same. It, and its level-ups, are my signature weapon(s) on RF1.

I don't remember well but probably I was at 30 level.
Don't use Claymore 'cos it's slow. You can buy Windsword from that old marine dude (he upgrades your tools). It's a shortsword, much faster and stronger.
