Where can I find mackerel?

Go to Alvarna North Square, where your barn is and fish at the water near the bottom of the screen.
It has to be fall, because right now it's fall season in my game and i've been getting mackerel at this spot

I actually have gotten mackerel from the ocean once or twice, but the river seems to be better.
