Yep. I want to find out all the way so I can avoid doing it.

I think just starting a new game over that file would do it. I don't think there's many ways to erase data in RF2, they've been getting smarter about it over the years, so you won't accidentally erase over it.
So...just don't start a new game over it.

Thats the thing I somehow accidently erased my data before.
I'm pretty sure there's at least two to erase data.
The first is starting a new game over the file then saving in the new game. I know I didn't do the first, as that takes too much time. So there must be a second way.

Your brother/sister lost it, and replaced it with another

Try overwriting or putting it through the washer a couple times.

Oh « Harvest Goddess », the second way is horrible. I discovered it by accident while being bored watching the opening song.
If you press the Left and Right shoulder buttons at the same time while the game is STARTING up (meaning showing the marvelous and natsume logos), it will go right over to the "game screen" where it looks like you can start your game. Actually, that's the erase menu, and you can easily delete your data that way if you dont read the box that pops up.
I stared at it for a full minute because i was so confused. XD i thought i could start my file, but it said "Do you want to erase file?"
Be careful.
Read.

Cheat codes have a high percentage for screwing up the game. It's likely the game will crash and delete itself with all the hacking. I highly suggest no cheat codes, for two reasons: 1.) it ruins the fun of the game 2.)it was ruin the game itself
