So who's on my side? (RF2-2nd gen)

I know Tanya and Barrett and my dad are allowing me to go into the caves, but this confuses me:
they let you inside the caves for certain festivals. O____O
Byron tells me like, everyday, "Stay away from teh caves! They're dangerous!"

so, who's on my side? Don't give me spoilers. All I have is Barrett and Tanya so far.

Jake! I'm sure of it, just look at his last quest for 2nd gen. and the rewards he give us.
You just can't give weapons to little kids and give them a pep talk and expect them to keep away from the dungeons.

And don't forget that all of his quests' rewards in 2nd gen are all weapons.

I don't know if it is because Kyle married Rosalind, but...
If you raise Max's FP he says that you can't fool him and that he knows you're going into dungeons. Then he'll tell you that you should go back to town if there is real danger.
