RF2 – Most underdeveloped character

No, by underdeveloped I do not mean the girls as that would include everyone except Alicia.
But what character is just kind of there … but you never really learn much about them or wish the game would have given you more details about them.
I’d have to say it’s Egan. He’s an Elf, but like another Elf in RF1 he hides the fact with a hat. Why do elves do that in RF anyway? Do they just want to fit in? Are they afraid to look different? Is there some form of discrimination against them? The way Jake talks it’s pretty easy to tell he’s on the defensive all the time and sets a wall around himself. We learn that Egan is 100+ years old and likes stew. Well that’s real exciting. So what happened to his human wife anyway? How did they met and how was it they came to fall in love and get married? What happened to her? Based on Jake’s apparent age she shouldn’t have died of old age. Egan’s dialog is very limited and his requests don’t reveal a lot about him. Add to that his son, or grandson (in Gen2) never really seems to say anything about him either. He just seems to be there.
What do we really know about Egan anyway?
How else do you think should have had more development in the game?

I agree with you. Egan would have been an interesting character to develop, but they didn't seem to bother XD
I'd say Byron as well. All we know is that he's the mayor of the town. I can't think of anything else that would be of much interest when it comes to Byron :/

Well, it's simple to understand why the elf don't want anyone know they're elf (especially, half-elf). It's similar with human culture, in the past, the white people really hate black people.
By the way, I don't think Egan trying to hide the truth. Everyone in village very nice, he don't need to do that anyway. But some elves don't want to look different with other people (for example, if you have a tail, do you really want to run around and show everyone?). That why they wear some hat to hide their ears.

Perhaps that's true of the older elves. Cecilia and Mr. Personality Jake don't seem to feel the need to cover their ears, nor does Orland.

Maybe they forgot to give Egan ears and just made him look like he's covering them o_o

Hmm, I'd like to know more about Egan, as well.
But, of course, I do appreciate that they left some things up to our own imaginations~

Agreed.
I go into the Inn and he never seems to say anything of interest ever.
He's just polite and .. that's it. If I wasn't so nice and talked to everyone every single day, I wouldn't even bother going into the Inn in the first place.
Nothing for me to do in there.
And I LOLed at the 'maybe they forgot to draw the ears on him' comment. I totally thought that when I realized he was an Elf.
XD And his hat makes me think of a mushroom cap. o.o

Jake had commented on Egan being rather frightening when he's angry. Otherwise, that's pretty much the only other thing we know about the guy. He's just there. :/

Byron doesn't have much either. I mean, Egan at least participated in town gossip about the ghost and other stuff as his FP went up. Byron will NOT shut up about the stupid town. "I'm glad town is going good." "don't go in the dungeons, Aralya, it's too dangerous!" Rar.

I agree with you. For me it's hard to get to know Byron. I'm in 2nd gen. right now,so it feels like I never will ><

Hahaha, so true. From the beginning I always felt so bad with Egan. He, well he doesn't really have any friends - it's really sad... especially during festivals he just stands alone in the far corner of the east end of the town, nobody else is there. He's so polite and nice though... I really wish we knew more. Byron I don't care about because like Kemine said he obviously loves his precious town and nobody else so screw him

I think EVERYBODY is underdevelped especially Cammy and Roy. Nobody ages in 2nd Gen for goodness sake! Hmm... maybe they drink from the fountain in the park

Egan and Herman were the first people who came to mind when I saw the title. I also didn't feel much interest in Natalie or Roy.
But I think your wife after marriage falls in that category, too.
On the other side of the scale, I think Max, Alicia, Rosalind, Julia, and Dorothy were developed very well (even though I really don't care much for Julia, she's my least favorite bride). Maybe Tanya, too. I loved Tanya.
