For Gordon's request, he wants a diomand. He told me to look in that winter cave. I can't find it. Is there a certain place to look for it? Or is there a certain tool to use to find it? I need help.

Just smash rocks with your hammer in Padova Mountains. It'll turn up eventually.

Yeah, Diamond is quite rare. As in the rarest thing in first gen.^^ Use your regular hammer, don't charge, and save outside the dungeon. Then go in, smash all the rocks, and if you don't get it, reload. That way you won't have to re-do it every single day. The rocks are random so it won't be the same each time.

It took me about 3-4 days of smashing rocks to find two diamonds. So yeah, it's lucky if you get more than one diamond in a day of mining.

Strawberries will have the same effect^^ and much easier to obtain... and to raise her LP, you need to get your fortune. But you're right that gifts are good for FP. Plus Diamonds are good to have around anyway; if you have a lot of them it's useful since you need them for a statue in 2nd Gen and for some forging.^^
It must have taken you a longgg time to mine tons of them though :o

Thank you. I finally got a diomand. :bunny: But is it true that the regular hammer is better for gems? And the battle hammer is good for ores?

Yes this is true. I think it's in the RF2 Mini Guide.

That appears to be how it is, about the metals and gems... at least for First Gen that's definitely the case. In second gen mining becomes a bit wacky; for example I can never get Aquamarine or Emerald if I mine at Trieste Forest - Windy Pass, but when I mine at Aegis Falls I almost always get them... but I think that gem/metal rule still applies. And I get lots of gold and platinum, even with my normal Gold Hammer in 2nd Gen.
It's still pretty vague; it's not like you won't get ANY rubies if you use the battle hammer. But Misti Rose and I fiddled around a bit with mining and exchanged our findings and that seems to be the case. It can't hurt to use the according hammer, if it might increase your chances.

Does it matter what kind of battle hammer you use?

It never even crossed my mind that you could use a battle hammer for mining. -dense-

About the diamonds, although you already found one, I heard that charging up that hammer gives you a better chance for rarer gems/ores. I don't think that's true, though. I got mine without a charge. :/

It never did for me either... not like I actually use the battle hammer anyway XD
