How do I use it?
I mean, I know how to work it, but I went to an area in Trieste Forest...where there's a yellow highlight shown on the map. I use inquisitive waltz after dfeating the monsters and the summoner in that area..."There's too many monsters here" is what my character said. I then thought maybe it was the rocks...So I smashed them all as well, getting some ores...I tried it again, same thing.
Am I doing something wrong?
Uhh... as long as you've defeated all the monsters and generators in the map, and you have a monster with you, it should work... I can't see what else would be stopping it from working...?

it just won't work...does it have to do something with teh monster that I'm with? It's a wolf...
Um... it takes up RP? Maybe that's it...? I can't think of anything... make sure ALL stuff on the map is gone... I just don't know what else it would be. Granted I don't have much experience with IW but still, I can't see it being anything else.
No, only the monsters and the generators in the area. In Trieste Forest you should do this in the Mushroom path if you want to get Poison powder. Destroy the 2 generators and kill the monsters. Then go to this place in Mushroom area and use the inquisitive waltz:

in 2nd generation...there's an area where there's a lot of rocks where you can get ores from. There's also a generator in that area. On the map, it shows a highlighted line on it.
That yellow area, if you walk further to your right side (you can't reach there from where you are). There is one more monster generator there. Which normally can be reached through the mushroom path.
