Are you able to get the golden crops in first gen?
Every where I look I see people saying it's in second gen...

As far as I know you can't get golden crops in first generation. To get them you have to use the magic book called Inquisitive Waltz, which you get in second generation.
But if you need a golden cabbage for Rosalinds request you have to ask Max about it when he's in his room.

Max is in his room on night so you must be friends with everyone (except Cecilia) if you wanna enter the house after 6 pm.

Monday: Max will be in his room at 5:00 pm +
Tuesday: 9:00 pm +
Wednesday: 3:00 pm +
Thursday: 5:00 pm +
Friday: 3:00 pm +
Holiday: 5:00 pm +
