No. You can only marry a girl 1st gen, and 2nd gen you can play as a girl/boy and can only have the 'friendship ceremony' with one of the other kids of opposite gender.

However, if you play as the daughter in 2nd gen, you can also have a same-« Chicken Hugging » friendship ceremony with the twins Sera & Serena.

Leonel is pretty feminine but not enough to mistake him for a girl from my POV.
