Inquisitive waltz is a songbook to be used with a monster pet, and it allows you to discover hidden items in various places of the dungeons. You find it in gen2, the library bookshelves.

Go to the inn 1st floor, the farthest room on the right and press a.
Then, after the scene, go to the library and search around to get inquisitive waltz.

This can only be done in 2nd gen XD

yeah, go into the Inn, and in the right most room (first floor) there should be a book on the book shelf. Then go back to the library and get Inquisitive waltz
EDIT: ah, sorry, looks like it's already been explained I'm slow xD -shot-

1-Second Generation.
2-Build a Library
3-Get Striking March from the INN, the room at the right in the first floor.
4-Go to the library and get Inquisitive Waltz.
5-Go to a dungeon and bring a tamed moster along with you.
6-Clear the field in the area of the dungeon you are in. Make sure you have defeated any monsters.
7.Use the Inquisitive Waltz and the Monster should bring you various items, including Golden Crops.
Gunpowder has to be obtained by using Inquisitive Waltz, one of those musics (I forget what the game calls them) that you obtain. I heard you use it at Messhina Valley - Holy Statue, but I haven't been able to find any there yet.

As for Strong String, you need to kill Spiders, but the ORIGINAL ones, not the new spiders that spawn at Trieste Forest - Sun-Dapped Spot, those drop Sparkle String. There's only one generator that spawns the basic spider; at Trieste Forest - Grassy Path, and they only appear after 6:00 PM.

The books used with monsters are called "Music Books" XD

The first one you get is from Mana once you build the barn in gen1. "Striking March."

Apparently, it lets your monster partner use its "Special Attack" to do more damage. XD Kinda lame, really, because it just makes the monster glow yellow and then lurch forward.. >.> I'd rather have them fighting by themselves.

seems like some kind of special move

Thank you all for the great guide!

What does the march that you get at the inn do?

In fact, what do the marches even do?
