You can ride the Buffalo (not the cow-like ones in first gen, it's the greenish ones that appear at Messhina Valley - Giant Boulder during 2nd Gen), and though they have more HP than the wolf they're terribly slow. Wolves have great attack and defense, combined with the ability to ride them... it just rocks. Their pounce attack is kinda slow, but the one where they thrash around and do 4 attacks in a row is basically a 1-hit kill to almost any normal monster, when the wolf is at 10FP.
Cool. Maybe I should start 'collecting' monsters instead of just using my hunter wolf. The fairy sounds good, but I never bother to catch it though. lol!! I should start doing so...
i use the first 4 floors of my barn with general monsters, and the other floors with woolies, bees, buffamoos and clucks, the monsters that i like to bring with me are the dark faerie, the arch demon and also the king minotauros. but my favorite ones are the hunter wolf and the claw dragon, i only wish i could ride them, it would be GREAT if i could ride a claw dragon, and also fly with it
i sued to always use my silver wolf for riding around but recently i got a necro to help me. he helps a bit but hes still only at 5 hearts...i need to get some better monsters with me.

IDK, I have always gone solo or brought my golem with me
Trust me, golems are fast, powerful and have a charge attack not unlike the wolfs (except it goes for longer)
But thats just me really
XD since there's SO many floors in the barn by 2nd gen, someone should tame 1 of EVERY monster and test it out. :D I think i did that in RF1.. but i hate the lag in RF2 @.@
and the claw dragon, i only wish i could ride them, it would be GREAT if i could ride a claw dragon, and also fly with it
