For those with or without Tales of Symphonia, How do I get to where I can use the forbiddon book?

Where do you get the Forbidden Book from? I don't remember if I aquired it or not. It might be one of those items that just store in your inventory and doesn't do anything

(I'm right at the point where I get to storm Yaggy's castle with Kratos
