HELP!

Anyone with legend of Zelda : oracle of ages...
I got all of the essences, saved Queen Ambi, and defeated this wierd winged creature (that was Vernan) and just when I thot I had won...
"WAIT! THis fight is not over yet" and then Vernan turns into a spider and kills me. Any tips? I know HOW to defeat her I just can't do it.
