Shipping items through cannery or not?

I'm trying to unlock the sprites for whom I have to ship a certain amount of wool, milk and eggs. Does the shipping also count when throwing the items through the cannery? Or do I have to put them straight through the shipping bin?

Shipping them through the cannery does work. I believe I unlocked Laine doing it. It just won't help toward unlocking Green team sprites. I think for those you have to use the shipping bin only.

Thanks for the help, I was affraid the cannery wouldn't work on either
