^ I'm not sure. I think there's a rumor that says picking it up will stop the cutscene where you meet her from triggering, but I don't know how true it is. If it is true, though, then just waiting another day should fix the problem, as a new white orb will be produced everyday so long as you don't harvest any of the flowers.

I've also heard that if you wait outside of the tower until 6:00 PM the cutscene won't trigger. Again, I don't know how true that is, but some people have said that you should wait until 6:00 PM or later in the Whale Island Depths (or any area that's not Whale Island Fin,) before entering Whale Island Fin and going to her tower to get the cutscene to successfully trigger.

If all else fails, try triggering the cutscene for a few more days. Go to the area with Iris's tower in it at 6:00 PM or later and see if it triggers when you reach her tower this time. If it doesn't, water the flowers so they stay healthy and try the same thing for the next couple of days. If you still just get the scene of her watering the flowers, then my guess would be to harvest the flowers and grow some new ones to see if that works.

This pretty much exhausts my knowledge on how to get this cutscene to work, so if none of this helps I'm sorry to say I can't suggest anything else. Good luck.
