Carter and Truffles

Hi i heard that truffles can be found at the back at the church. I also know that you have to be friends with Carter to get them. Question is......how do i be friends with him without burning a hole in my pocket

2. Just a quick question...but which girl do you marry? No im not going to follow.... but my curiosity overcame me...... and some people i know would like 2 know too.........

I don't remember any truffles there, but I played long time ago so...
If you wanna be friends with Carter, give him his favorite stuff, like eggs, turnips, mushrooms, curry and fishies. Remember of his birthday (fall 20) and talk to him everytime you meet him.
If you really want the truffles, you may exchange your medals for the truffles on the Horse Races. Save the game before you enter the Plaza. Remember what horse won the race. Turn off the game, start again and make a bet. There are 3 races that run and you can bet on all of them.

Yup, there actually ARE truffles there, as well as some mushrooms, and white grass if it's Winter.

To become friends with Carter, do everything Fretka said - give him gifts and talk to him whenever possible. I suggest giving him curry powder, which is cheap and you can get in Jeff's Supermarket, or eggs. I think he likes small fish too, I'm not entirely sure though. =\

Eh, looks like I was beaten to the punch on most, but...
It is recap time.

I did listen to his stories each day.
I gave him a small fish every day. (though any size will work, he also likes eggs, curry, & turnips.)
I checked the door every few days. (Though by the time I got to Fall, it was open.)

That's all it takes really.

He also takes the flowers I gave him. He seems to like those. It was my quick, cheap way to make friends with Carter. There should be a random event that unlocks the door for you, so be on the lookout for that.

I was always confused about this event, as I made friends (or so I thought) and then BOOM I got no event in the fall? I went over to see him every DAY!!!!
