You can also dump the stuff in after 5:00 on the day of the shooting star event. Just remember that you have to go the mountain at 6.
Each run from the house to the box takes about 5 minutes max of in-game time, which means in an in-game hour, you can ship 360 items at least. To empty the whole fridge (64 spaces with 99 items in each) it would take 17.6 game hours give or take some.

Oops. Yeah, using the Teleport Stone, it's possible to get all your foraging done within an hour.
