Boring after storyline?

Ok, so I'm trying to decide if I should marry a girl that requires me completing the storyline or not. I want to marry Mist or Iris, but I don't want to marry them and then have nothing to do.. Then I'll be bored, not want to play, and.. you get it.
My question is, for those who have beaten the game and continued to play, were there still things to do or did you become bored? And if there was still stuff to do, what was it?
Thank you.

I finished the game's storyline a few days ago and I decided to concentrate more on getting money and raise people's FP and LP. I'm going to marry Eunice after she is done with her diet (only 10 ingame days) and I only need 3/4 LP until she is at 10 LP. After I'm married I'm going to finish the deeper parts of the Ice Ruins and Whale Island.

So, you can complete the storyline without finishing every part of the dungeons?

You have to finish Green Ruins to get access to the Lava Ruins (I think, I don't know if the Lava Ruins opened because it just turned summer, or if it opened because I happened to defeat the first boss when it was almost summer), you have to beat the boss of the Lava Ruins to get an item to open the Ice Ruins. You only have to go to the third floor for a storyline event. You don't have to finish the whole Ice Ruins to beat the game and the same goes for Whale Island, but I'm sure that the closed gate on Whale Island must have opened and you have to have met Iris' friend.
The monsters on the deeper floors of the Ice Ruins and the later parts of Whale Island are kinda strong so I'll save them until I'm married, so I have something to do after I'm married. I'm at 113 hours and blah minutes and nowhere near bored yet.

Ok.... Did you fight Gelwin(sp?) yet? Just meeting Black Iris and saving her from the mind control doesn't complete the story line.

Ahh, I see.. That's good to know!
And as for villagers, will there still be plenty of events to unlock with them after finishing the storyline and marrying?

I think at least every girl has a love event. There were some events involving Kross and Brodik and Danny and Rosetta also have a few events. Minerva moves in after Tabatha is at a certain LP and both Irises only move into Trampoli after the storyline.

(Sorry for so many questions..)
In RF1, after you buy the house, there isn't much to save up money for. At all, actually.
Does RFF have the same problem?
Oh, and is there more than one house expansion?

There are separate house upgrades for Forging/Crafting area, Kitchen and Lab area. You'll need them to be able to install better stuff so you can make more and better items. There is also an upgrade to build a bedroom, which is a requirement to marry, because Lute doesn't want to sell you a big bed if you don't have the upstairs bedroom. You can also buy paintings from Lute to put into your bedroom, and you can get a closer view to them. I just got my last upgrade, I bought the bedroom in mid-spring second year. Actually, the only upgrade I haven't bought yet is the final upgrade of the barn, but the barn is not Raguna's house.
Oh I forgot to mention. I don't know if you are still in the first year, but I noticed that there were new and more festivals appearing in the second year.

I'm actually in the process of getting the game. ^-^;
I ordered it off of Amazon and I'm trying to decide who to marry before getting it.
Having more festivals in the 2nd year sounds good, as well as the other things I can buy after getting the bedroom added. So, I think I'm going to go ahead and marry either Mist or Iris!
Thank you very much for your help!

Before i started playing I had planned on marrying Melody. Then I heard her voice in game and it just seriously grates on my nerves. I'll probably go for either black Iris or Cinnamon.
