No, the loading is smooth, it just goes a lot longer than the RFF's played by other people. And the music doesn't freeze.Ayumi_Ishimaru wrote:No, I doubt it occurred during translation. It just sounds like a faulty copy of the game.
I just asked my friend who also owns RFF who had the same exact problem regarding anime intros and town lags as you did.
What she did to solve the problem was the same that I did, but she also went back and cleared about 4 save files of games she doesn't play anymore.
Afterwards, her game and anime intros worked very smoothly.
It should only take about 5 seconds to load from one district to the next in the game.
Let me ask some questions to see if you had some of the same lag problems she did.
1. When you changed districts, did the music sometimes freeze from the previous district you were at before the new district music started?
2. When you change districts, do the runeys at the bottom right corner freeze a lot? (Like stop spinning for a moment or two?)
That's basically what it was like for my friend, but once she rid large game files she no longer plays, it ran very smoothly.
I really think it's just that your wii doesn't have enough room to vent in the back. It needs plenty of open space, and therefore if it doesn't, dust has probably clustered inside of your wii causing a lag.
But this is just a thought. Test your other games and see if the problem persists.
I just now timed the time it took to go from place to place, and it was always between 10-12 seconds. (and that was counting slowly..) Oh, and I noticed that the two songs have to change while loading before I even see the new section. For instance, going into the church involves it loading until the song stops and then the church song plays for another 5 seconds before it stops loading. This isn't supposed to happen, right?
I checked the amount of space I still have, and there's a lot left. I've only used about 10 blocks of memory. And my Wii is not on a shelf or anything, it's on the floor with its little platform thing. So, I'm sure it has enough room to vent. Besides, the Wii hasn't shown any problems with all the other games I have. (My brother played a few today, and I asked him if he had any problems with those games. He said no.)
Well, anyway, I'll be testing the game out on my dad's Wii on Friday, so that'll narrow down the options of what's wrong.

Nope, the music should not do that. My friend had 10 blocks of memory used on hers too, and hers lagged the way yours did :\
However, just as you said, test it on your dads wii and see how it runs. If it runs the same, it is then most likely just the game.
At least your other games work smoothly, so it doesn't really seem to be a problem with your wii.

I had a problem with smash bros. brawl.
All of my other games worked perfectly, except Brawl didn't work at all (I got it on the day it came out!).
It just refused to read the disk (AKA please put a disk into drive or somn like that)
I found out that the game was so huge it had two layers of disk that the laser reads.
My Wii was extremely over used, and it worked fine on my friends rarely used Wii, so we sent it in to get repaired and it worked fine.
Funny thing is, it recently stopped working again...
But thats probobly from scratches.
Now that I think about it, mine does take slightly longer to load... and the scenes are a bit scetchy... But nothing I noticed right away.

Hmm.. interesting. My dad doesn't use his Wii that often, so that'll be another thing to think about when I test it out on his tomorrow.Wertville wrote:I had a problem with smash bros. brawl.

Almighty.. I won't even answer you. XD
...This will sound WEIRD, but just listen.
When I first got my Wii, I loved it. It was my child and I would lovingly kiss it once everyday. But then, time passed. I didn't get many games for it, so I didn't use it as much. When Brawl came out, the Wii REFUSED to play it. But the second I gave it a kiss, it worked.
Maybe love your Wii more? Also, yeah, stay on top of updates, consult the manual for cleaning instructions, etc...

Ok, update.. I just now played it on my dad's Wii. It played perfectly.
Now, I'm really confused. I was so sure it was the game that was the problem, and now I know it's my Wii. I'm sure there's enough room for it to vent.. and my brother won't let me delete any of the 10 memory spaces we're using. Should I get a SD card and put all of my memory there and see if that makes a difference? I don't want to spend money if it won't even help. :/

If dust did get into the Wii, how can I get it out without taking it apart? Would a vacuum be too harsh on the Wii?Ayumi_Ishimaru wrote:I really think it's just that your wii doesn't have enough room to vent in the back. I think a vacuum would definitely be too harsh.
If it has enough room in the back to vent, then just playing for a while on it should allow the dust to blow out, but I'm not sure.
But try your SD card idea, that would seem to work the best because yeah, my friends game ran like yours and she had 10 blocks used too. So maybe RFF really does require more room :\

There's a problem now. A pretty big one. My brother has Super Smash Brawl on the Wii and it does not transfer to SD cards.
Also, I found out online that there has been a problem with Brawl and the lens inside. For some reason, if there's a small amount of dust, Brawl can cause problems for the lens on some Wiis. Mine might be one of them. And if that's the case, then I'll need to buy a lens cleaning kit.
If the lens is messing up, then that may be why RFF isn't working properly. Plus, I've been noticing weird noises from my Wii when I play RFF for long periods of time. :/

I think you should just call up Nintendo and ask them if that's the case then, just to be sure.
If so, you may even be able to send in your Wii and have it professionally fixed.
This is what I would do, especially if your Wii is making strange noises. It may even be a problem that's beyond what you can handle by yourself. You won't really know unless you call a professional and explain the situation to someone who will know how to handle it and thus fix your Wii.

Calling Nintendo is usually the best course of action. That way, if anything happens, you have someone to blame.

Ok, thanks for all of your help.
I'm going to go on their website and contact them, either by phone or email tomorrow.
I went ahead and bought a Wii cleaning kit and there was no change in how it was acting with RFF.
My brother will not let me delete the Brawl file (if that's the reason behind all this) and he definitely won't let me send it in if Nintendo thinks I need to. :/
I'll still contact them to see what needs to be done and HOPEFULLY it'll be something I can do at home.
Thanks again!
