Extreme lagging!! Please help!

Ok, so I received my Rune Factory Frontier from Amazon today and I was so excited! ... until I started playing. I was watching Mist's intro video and it froze and then began skipping slowly through the video. It was lagging like CRAZY. The same thing happened for Eunice's and Anette's intros as well. And the loading times between parts of the map are much longer than they are in videos I've seen of the game on Youtube.
Has anyone experienced this? I don't think my game is the problem, I think it's my Wii. But, I have no idea what to do to stop it from lagging.
Please, in any way, help me.

I'm at a loss and I want to enjoy my new game!
Thank you.

I haven't had a problem at all with my game lagging. Have updated the software on your Wii yet? That could be a problem. You'll need online access to do this tho. If you haven't done that, I would recommend it. Also maybe clean up your memory a bit. The Wii might be running low on slots, so it's got scramble to find space for RFF.

I checked my memory, and I still have plenty. I did the Wii System Update, but no luck.. it's still really slow.
For instance, on the games I see on Youtube, the waiting time only goes through the Runeys about 1 to 2 times. On my game, it can take up to 6 times through. And when I open up the inventory menu, the game looks like it froze for a few seconds because it's having a hard time opening it.
And of course, the videos are still skipping and stopping.

Hmm... I haven't had loading/lagging issues or anything...
Are you sure it isn't the copy of the game you got? Was it used? (I don't know Amazon very well, so if you can't buy used off of it... well, I didn't know.) Maybe it got scratched, or maybe its a factory defect? If you've tried updating the Wii, and you've checked your memory, I don't think it should be having a problem unless it got damaged somehow, like dropped or exposed to humidity or something... I'd check the system and game copy out as thoroughly as possible if the obvious has been eliminated.

I bought the copy of the game brand-new. Still in its case, wrapped, and the CD doesn't have a scratch on it.
As for the Wii, it's been performing perfectly with our other games that we play. This is the first time I've experienced lag on the Wii.
It MIGHT be the game, but if that was the case, wouldn't there be other games like that out there? Other people would be complaining about it being slow, but I can't find anyone else having my problem online.

The loading times can be very long. But I cant' find an explanation for the videos skipping...
Talk to Nintendo about it, they are usually fairly good about customer service.

When I went to view videos in memory, I once had them start skipping around like that as well (but I never had slow loading times)
All I did was turn off the Wii, eject the CD, and blow on it a bit. I noticed minor pieces of trash stuck in the middle of the CD, and I carefully wiped it away with my thumb, very very slowly. Then I blew into the Wii's CD slot, and carefully wiped the back where the fan is with a tissue. I moved the Wii a bit more away from the wall so that the backside would have plenty of room for the fan to work at it's best.
Then, when I turned it on again, it worked fine just like it used too and it never happened again.
Try doing that too, and if the problem persists, contact Nintendo about it or something. If it doesn't do this to your other games, it's most likely a problem with RFF. However, if you start noticing lags in other video games, its probably your Wii. Just remember the back of the Wii needs room to vent air from the fan. I think that was mainly my problem, as well as some unnoticed trash in the heart of the CD.

Yeah, I made sure the fan was able to blow all the hot air out and I blew into where the CD goes in as well.
I'm going to my dad's this Friday and he has a Wii, so I'm going to try playing the game there. If it works perfectly on his Wii, I'll know there's something going on with my Wii. If it's still slow and skips, I'll contact Nintendo because the game is faulty. Do you think they'll give me a new game without paying? And I'll just send in my faulty one?
Thanks for all of the help, everyone.

I'll keep you updated when I try it out at my dad's.

Hmmm...probably.
Just explain the situation to them, and they can either fix it or just give you a new one. I don't see why Nintendo wouldn't trade the faulty one for a properly working one

Yeah.. thanks.
Oh, and just to clarify, the lagging and skipping only occurs during the short anime-style clips. The game itself is smooth, except when I try to open up my tools or inventory. And, like I said before, the waiting times between each part of town are extremely long.
Another question: Would it better to contact Nintendo or XSEED if the game is faulty?

If it's the game it might be more of a problem... Nintendo won't cover that because they didn't make it >_>
XSEED translated the game; they didn't make it. But I think Marvelous is based in Japan and I doubt it has a North American branch... I guess look around a bit? ><

Dang it..
You don't think the problem may have occurred while translating it? Natsume has made many glitches in the past after translating Harvest Moon games. But what I'm experiencing isn't really a glitch..

it might be because your wii is getting hot and slowing down.
do you have any skins or jackets on your wii?
or is your wii in a spot were it cant get enough air?
my wii started to get hot and turn off randomly and i got rly frustrated.
some games stores sell wii bases that blow air into your wii to prevent this.

No, I doubt it occurred during translation. It just sounds like a faulty copy of the game.
I just asked my friend who also owns RFF who had the same exact problem regarding anime intros and town lags as you did.
What she did to solve the problem was the same that I did, but she also went back and cleared about 4 save files of games she doesn't play anymore.
Afterwards, her game and anime intros worked very smoothly.
It should only take about 5 seconds to load from one district to the next in the game.
Let me ask some questions to see if you had some of the same lag problems she did.
1. When you changed districts, did the music sometimes freeze from the previous district you were at before the new district music started?
2. When you change districts, do the runeys at the bottom right corner freeze a lot? (Like stop spinning for a moment or two?)
That's basically what it was like for my friend, but once she rid large game files she no longer plays, it ran very smoothly.
I really think it's just that your wii doesn't have enough room to vent in the back. It needs plenty of open space, and therefore if it doesn't, dust has probably clustered inside of your wii causing a lag.
But this is just a thought. Test your other games and see if the problem persists.

I haven't had any difficulties like the ones you've described :/. That's so strange. I wonder if your dads Wii will work better...
If this is the only game that lags on your wii, it sounds like it's the game.
