Yes, they totally threw out the 64 cast.

Mmhmm. The new games have completly original characters. *cough cough*

(If you find anymore matching characters, please let me know ^^)
« Cow Poopoo ».
Didn't see this before.
YukiOkami.
I love you.

No, really. The characters seem to be static. Like, certain features/personalities are being recycled over and over. It was nice and fresh to get out of the world of Mineral Town... But... « What The Eggplant »... The residents of Sunny Island are almost exact duplicates. CONSPIRACY I TELL YOU. CONSPIRACYYYYY.

If I remember correctly though, didn't a new person/developer/main person that makes decision/whatever the hell it's called take over for ToT? ToT seemed to peel away from these stereotypes.
And as much as I hate to admit it...
Magical ... Melody... did... too. D;
/shudder
/MM hate ftw

Speaking of Magical Melody, don't forget Dan and Ray! At least with the advent of Wind Bizarre and MLS, Marucome is, for the most part, getting more creative with the character designs.

I agree.
1) I don't have the money to keep up with them all!
2) Less rushed=Less glitches.
3) I don't own most of them! What is Rune Factory? What is Harvest Moon: Cute? Too many games and I have no time to play them all! :!:

I have to agree that Marvelous needs to take a break from developing Harvest Moon games for a bit. It's nice that they'd like to provide us with a lot more options, but I really don't think most of the recent games were even necessary to make. If they were going to produce superior games like SSaF and EAM in the first place, why did they even bother producing games like IoH and ToT in the first place? SSaF and EAM seem to me to be just a rehash of the previous two installments with some flashy new features/characters/maps thrown in to make them attractive to players (though SSaF's d-pad functionality is a much welcomed addition).

HM64 was an actual good HM game. It had a small storyline, loveable characters, picture album for special events, small events between the characters and the basic HM stuff. Not many HM games have the loveable characteristics like the older ones do. They're making it too complicated nowadays with sunshine points and the annoying process of leveling up tools. Don't get me wrong, I love good tools but it's getting irritating having to buy everything one at time and such.
Right now I don't even know which HM games are worth buying. I mean as soon as they release ToT here Japan makes EAP and it makes fans want that because of the 1 million improvements. They should have just made EAP in the first place! Yay I'm done ranting. And I just relized someone just said the same thing I did.
Oh well, I think they should remake HM64 and add a few new elements to it. I believe it's one of the best HM games made and if Marvelous is obsessed with making more HM games, then 64 should be one of them.

Honestly, I don't mind.
I think it's nice for them to have games on all the platforms, so people who don't own a certain handheld/console don't have to go out of their way to be able to play a Harvest Moon game.

Eeeh.
I really like the franchise, but I think they're going to take a momentary break from it sooner or later. xP;;

OKAY, wellllllllllllllll....

The term "pumping out" games reminded me of Inspector Gadget, where the evil Dr. Claw guys were pumping all of the electricity and smartness out of the police station's new electronic crime fighter board-thingy. XD

Sometimes, though, I DO wish that they'd stop. Making new games, I mean. For « Harvest Goddess »'s sake; I only have Harvest Moon DS: Cute and I absolutely LOVE it!!!! :)

But then, they came out with the DSi. :( And, shortly after the DSi's release, I became interested in MFoMT and Another Wonderful Life. Guess I might never get those, though; I can't find MFoMT ANYWHERE in stores, and AnWL? I can't find that, either. :( IT'S ALL THE WII'S AND DSi'S FAULT. I love the Wii, but.... the DSi? Hello, that's what people have computers and cameras for. *waves frantically*

I didn't really like the sound of ToT; when I heard about Animal March I squealed, "Yay!" ALSO, the music notes stuffz and Harmonica Valley and Castanet and all of those things about music -- that just drew me in, too. ;)

IoH sounds really good -- UNFORTUNATELY, with so many new games coming out, MFoMT, IoH, AND AnWL are all discontinued. In fact, I think even IoH is discontinued now, too.

I can live without AnWL. But MFoMT? ....IoH? Now, I REALLY want those. And so, then; now.... I have a choice to make. One discontinued game or the other? I'm getting all confuzzled.

And the worst part is: They're only getting discontinued because of the HUNDREDS, PRACTICALLY, of new games coming out for Harvest Moon. :(

At this rate, we're all going to die of Harvest Moon-y farm-y-ness. :(

Please, if all the good games are going to get discontinued before their times.... MAKE IT STOP!!!! :(

That's what I thought. D: . They're just making games to improving the previous games. The styles are even the same. ( That's what I look at in games. )

Amazon.com ^^

I want it too... but my parents won't let me buy anything over the internet... >=/
Sorry, back on topic now. *sweatdrop*

Amberleaf wrote:Please, if all the good games are going to get discontinued before their times.... MAKE IT STOP!!!! :(
Exactly!!! They might even discontinue Island of Happiness... *sob*

What was the point of making the old ones if they're just going to re-make it? My theory is that they release it like a "prototype" to test it. Then, after hearing the fan's complaints, they'll re-make it and forget all about the old one. (Although, I do appreciate how they give you wedding clothes in SSaf...) And it doesn't happen often, but sometimes the re-makes have some bad sides. (Like in SSaF, there's no rival children, and there were in IoH!!)

Well I don't see why people are complaining, yes it is a lot of games in a short amount of time but to think they would do something they knew they where going to remake something when it was released?

If it had good sales they come out with an "improved" version because people liked it and making up a whole new cast, island, plot would take much longer. and at the end of the day it is about how much you can sell and how much money you can make.

Yes they made a lot of new games but notice that most of them are "improved" versions that most likely are less work then a whole new game meaning they are released slightly quicker and that gives us a large amount of them.

I really agree with this topic, actually.
I liked the graphics for MFoMT and DS, so I can't say anything about copying and pasting the graphics (actually, they do that anyway, since Windy Bazaar looks exactly like IoH). But I do agree with them constantly repeating everything.

Pokemon usually has two new games per generation, and the third game is an improved version of the last two games, usually combining their storyline into a sister game. The difference is that their storylines are always fun and they add something new to each game so there's something different in them. Same formula, and in remakes such as LeafGreen and FireRed it's pretty much the same dialogue, even, but at least it has some sort of hook to it.

I liked playing ToT because it was like that--different, yet the same formula, but they found a different plot and new characters to make it more interesting. But games like Windy Bazaar is...ech. It looks exactly the same as IoH. x_x It's like their quality is slowly running dry as they race to make new games. The reaosn I want to play Rune Factory is because it at least looks different.

The reason I want to play Animal Parade is because ToT doesn't sound that good, and AP has the music note thingies and everything.... ;3 Music bells and animals combined together just captures me! ;3 Plus, AP has about 1 million improvements compared to ToT. ;3 For me, IoH sounds REALLY good.... so does SSaF and WB, but.... even though SSaF and WB will have many improvements, I still REALLY want IoH.... ;3

Don't forget AP. It's the same graphics as ToT, yet I doesn't heard anyone complain.

While I do think that they make lots of game all of a sudden, I still found it really interesting. In like 3-4 years, they created 3 different casts (IoH/SI, ToT/AP and WB) and I find that incredible, compared to the BTN/64/FoMT version that they kept during a long time. Sure, they were good game, but on the character side, it wasn't really original. And, even if the characters looks alike (for example Vaughn&Gray or Sabrina&Marie), they still had a little something to the character to make him/her different.

At least if you don't like one Harvest Moon, you don't have to wait like two years before another gets out if you only have one console.
