you can't go into all of them- it becomes very clear when you play the game, but there are community lots that you can't see inside or control things inside when your sim enters them, but you can still direct their actions like "buy groceries," "purchase books," "donate bugs to science," etc. there are other lots that you can see inside like beaches, the library, and a few others. it's all colour coded
Mizuru007 wrote:I have LOTS of free space on my computer (36 GB), but the game runs all laggy and poop-y.
Can this be fixed by uninstalling things? Or do I have to actually BUY something?
GB is for storage space. if your RAM (to use a Ted Steven-style analogy, RAM is the size of the freeway) is borderline, that's easy and cheap to upgrade. if your processor (GHz) is borderline, that's WAY more expensive and time consuming (processing speed is like the speed of the highway).
slow and laggy games are slow and laggy because information gets into a traffic jam because there's too much information on a small road- upgrading the road is the fastest and best way to fix it, but it's not guaranteed to make the game smooth.

Well, the computer itself runs fine, so I guess I need RAM AND a new video card.
*siiigh* There goes my AX spending money...

bap mentioned something about growing cheese or burgers or something. so i think hes gotten it. i havent messed with gardening too much yet though.
your cpu, video card, or ram may not be enough. video card and ram is pretty cheap. 30 for a few gigs of ram, 30 for a card.....just make sure its compatible with your computer.
your free space wont have an impact on your game play, as long as you have enough space to install it, thats all it really matters for.
if you zoom in close enough to buildings you do hear things...like at the military base, them chanting and doing drills~
im hoping expansions will be soley to improve the game, and then they use their little store for items. expansions for the sims 2 always seemed so shallow...
most of the sims ive made have been veg~
but i made an love the outdoors/veg person and they kept wanting to learn fishing D: hello little sim youre veg, fish are not vegetables!

this made me lol. actually, I guess they are all pescatarians. there are no veg options for grilled salmon, fish and chips, etc. when veg sims eat fish, do they get sick? I don't think so, but I wasn't paying a whole lot of attention.

but, has anyone done the gardening skill yet? I'm at level 10, but apparently you can only plant cheese (cheese tree), sausage (bacon tree), eggs (egg plant, har har) after you have completed a gardening opportunity. I haven't gotten a single gardening opportunity yet. anyone else have a problem with this? I really want a bacon bush. just because it's so.... stupid.
Got egg and cheese from the 1st, the opportunity wanted 20 great or better fruits. Patty and steak needed outstaning cheese, the last needed 20 outstanding steaks. Had 2 of each plant I could grow always growing, don't know if there's anyother triggers.

I also read that the recipe or guitar books were good fertilizers- maybe that will speed it up.

So what happens to all those extra sims you're not controlling? Or when you decide to switch to focusing on another sim. Does your sim do things like make decisions such as marrying someone without your interference?
Can you speed up the game if you get tired of watching your sims sleep do things? Or is time progression fixed since it's "open neighbourhood".
I think it sucks you are still restricted from some buildings. Is the workplace off-limits to the player still? Is the option on bringign your sims on dates to restaurants and bowling alleys available?

story progression on, yes they do things on their own, like move, or move other people in, form relationships. they dont buy furniture or anything, which is stupid, they could have 5 kids but not beds for all of them. i left one guy alone for awhile and played someone else, switched to check on him and hes living with an elderly couple in a one bedroom house...with a single bed, not even a double. and no couch @_@!
you can turn story progression off though.
the speed everyones complaining about is not how the game runs, its actual time passing in the game. its painfully slow. but the game is enjoyable despite that flaw...just do something else online or irl while its sleeping/working.
if you mean like just fast forward the entire neighborhood without really playing, you could turn the lifespan down, play a character and have the town die and hopefully repopulate with new people faster.
you cant see inside the work, but you can pick whether to work hard, slack off, suck up to the boss, meet coworkers etc.
you also cant see inside diners and such, but you have the option to go there with someone else.

Tried a book...didn't work, tried cooking food and fertilized, not able to either. possibly the better quality, the better results.
Had a few money trees develop seeds I planted right away. Greenthumb will let you revive death flower plant (dies right after harvest.) Talk might help but I never use it unless he needs social.

Welp, I played more of the Sims 3 and noticed its actually not that bad.
I actually like the game

I made a new Sim and a house for her :D
Here's pictures if you'd like to see it, I love seeing others work and all that :DD
This is my Sim, Risa Nakahara. I totally had to use this outfit, I thought it was so adorable!! :D

Risa looking at her new home I recentally built

Her own bicycle, even though she has two cars in the garage, even small girls need to work out
http://i154.photobucket.com/albums/s255 ... hot-17.jpg
I like this picture for some reason =/

First thing she does when she enters her new home...

She's looking up the sims! haha!

Risa's Bedroom. I tried my best to get everything to match lol.
http://i154.photobucket.com/albums/s255 ... shot-k.jpg
Risa's Mirror, I just like how it reflects, pretty cool.
http://i154.photobucket.com/albums/s255 ... shot-g.jpg
Risa's Master Bathroom. I liked the green so I used it on almost everything :D.
http://i154.photobucket.com/albums/s255 ... thRoom.jpg
The guest bedroom I spent a while making.
http://i154.photobucket.com/albums/s255 ... shot-9.jpg
The Guest Bathroom. I think I did good on this one, I was proud of myself lol.
http://i154.photobucket.com/albums/s255 ... hot-kj.jpg
http://i154.photobucket.com/albums/s255 ... shot-5.jpg
Sooo, here's the kitchen...I don't like the way it turned out, I think I should have used another color. Maybe I'll change it later...too lazy right now.
http://i154.photobucket.com/albums/s255 ... hot-13.jpg
And here's my living room :D. Some of it anyways.
http://i154.photobucket.com/albums/s255 ... ngRoom.jpg
http://i154.photobucket.com/albums/s255 ... enshot.jpg
Annnnd, here's the whole inside :D. So yeah...the house didn't turn out like I wanted it to, so I didn't take a picture of its outside...and the house is kinda empty...its because I usually don't pay attention how I am building it because I look at the smaller rooms and work with that lol.
http://i154.photobucket.com/albums/s255 ... hot-21.jpg
Okay sooo yeah I posted way too much!! But I love the sims and I am a huge fan. And I love taking pictures in the game :D its like I treasure every pixel xP.
Sorry for so many.

Wow, those pics are really cool! Sweet house! XP I wish I was good at house making. How did you make everything match, for example, in the bathroom? That's pretty awesome. Is that one of those matching style things?
And who else thinks neurotic is a fun trait? XD Freaking out after work is really helpful after working hard. Also funny, once my sim had a wish to wash their hands three times (yes, exactly three o.o) so I was like, "oh, okay, no big deal" and I did so. Then I went to read a book and while I read, she had another wish: Check the sink to make sure she didn't leave it on and flood the house. XD And you have an option to check all appliances just to make sure. And once you check that particular appliance, your sim feels all calm. XD

i love neurotic <3
ive mainly been making new sims and playing them for awhile. i like to keep trying out different traits~
neurotic is definitely a good one. and i like the evil trait for the cackles.
loves the outdoors is nice if you move them on an empty lot....dont build a house, just need a wall to place a toilet and fire alarm....then they have a constant + moodlet while theyre on the lot....if thats a beach lot..then another + for beautiful vista
never nude is nice because the stupid pixels when theyre naked kinda lag me. so until theres a hack for it, i think most of my sims will be never nudes from now on.
