i heard that you can ship directly from your menu. is that true?

Yes and no.

You can slide things into your shipping bin like in IoH, OR you can tap on the shipping bin to open up a separate screen, displaying the contents of your rucksack. You can then put items from your rucksack into the shipping bin without dropping them on the ground or having time pass by.
