I think access to the back/upstairs just means full FP with whoever tells you not to go there.
Does anyone know if making offerings to the Harvest Goddess increases your chances of being forgiven?

It does not. I tried giving offerings for 20 days during spring, and every confession except one was shouted at by Carter.....

Usually, it takes me about 5 tries to get to be forgiven.
