I am in autum of my first year. almost winter and i cant seem to get a horse. is there any requirements?

Barley should have brought it to you sometime in the spring, did you not get it?

Or are you talking about the horse maturing?

I don't think he gives it to you unless you meet him first.

i had to buy a cow. i didnt get one till 3rd year because i didnt want animals and when i did he gave it to me

So you didn't talk to him for three in game years? The longest I went when I first bought the game was a week and that was just from never running into the guy or knowing he was the source of the horse, heh.

Anyhow, three years... harsh. ;O

I made sure I talked to all the townspeople the first time I went into the town.

I thought that was the natural thing to dooooo.

So I didn't have problems with acquiring a horse.

So you have to talk to him to get the horse? I don't think i ever did, but i might have.
When i start the game, i only introduce myself to the bachelorettes :D

No, not really, I do that to everyone, real or imaginary.

You have to talk to him behind the counter, not in front of it.

Actually, I'm pretty sure it qualifies as meeting him, even if you're only doing business with him and talking to him from in front of the counter.

Usually, whenever I start a new game, if I talk to someone in front of the counter, they don't introduce themselves the next time I talk to them.

I would talk to them behind, so i actually know i'm doing it right, and a there's no chance i'm doing it wrong, it only takes a second longer.
And alos i never remember introducing myself to Barley, and i still got the horse.

I was just walking out one morning and he came, i don't remember introducing myself to anyone other than Popuri.
