The first HM game I played was FoMT.

The mistakes I did:
- I didn't upgade my tools
- I was mining in the mine cave the whole 1st Spring.
- I had only one cow. I don't remember how many chickens I bought
- I gave a log to Harris
- I believed Lilla was a bachelorette too XD Later I discovered she was not
- I had no idea the heart were growing during daily speaking to the bachelorettes. I was surprised when I saw Popuri's purple heart event XD "« What The Eggplant »? I didn't give her anything, so why is her heart purple"?

That is all, I think.

My very first file was "Brian" on FoMT. I;

-named my farm, dog and horse all faux-Japanese names. AKA, names that I thought sounded Japanese but, looking back now, are really retarded.
-married Karen and got so freaking excited when I did. I was jumping around the house and everything.
-wasn't friends with anyone but Karen. I didn't understand the workings of FP in the game. =P
-let Cliff go. =P
-Had a hugeass farm.
-Made tons of money because I played for a really long time.

My first game was the SNES one, which I played when I was really little. Can't remember though, somewhere between 5 and 7 I think. I did pretty well for my first try though. Started off messing up with crops, not knowing how to plant properly and all that. I got a chicken as soon as possible and tried saving up for a cow (though I only got one of each animal). I think I married on year 2, but I can't really remember too clearly. ^_^; I do remember that in the end, my farm was only decent. I had a wife but no kids and didn't really have too much money. I don't think I even got any of the golden tools.

My first HM file was for SNES. I don't remember exactly how I did in the game, but I know that I got married to Maria. I'm not sure if the game ended or not. I don't think I used walkthrough guides to play the file, so it was a tad bit rough figuring out Maria's favorite items, so I always stuck with flowers, lol.

Soapylion wrote:BtN was my first Harvest Moon game. Ah, the memories. I can remember my first file being a complete failure.

I was young and lazy, so couldn't be bothered properly reading what the Mayor and Zack had to tell me. Because of this, I didn't know what the shipping bin was, so I didn't know how to earn money. « Harvest Goddess ». I was an idiot. D: I tried to plant seeds on a path in the middle of town, I kept eating things instead of putting them in my rucksack...

It's a wonder I can actually make successful files now. :<
Lol, that was my problem!
I had no clue how to make money, except for the part-time jobs.
After my first file, I then realized there was a shipping bin to sell « Cow Poopoo ».

My first game I'm pretty sure was STH. I actually did pretty good since I had crops and animals, heck even knew enough to take care of them. I was...uh..10 or 9.

But a single hurricane and lack of money sadly put all about 10 livestock to rest. Stupid hurricane caused ALL of my animals to become sick, at the time I only had 1 animal medicine and the Ranch was closed that day. Well was able to cure that one animal, but wasn't able to do much else. Nest day went to buy the medicine to find out that I didn't have enough and I wanted to cry.

Sadly the following one of my animals died and it took the WHOLE day for my character to grieve. So next another animal died and so on so forth until they all died......was unfair.

Now I'm paranoid about my animals getting sick and always buy like 6 animal medicines just in case.

i killed my cow cause i didnt realize i had to put fertilizer on the field so it would grow...i just thought it was gonna eat it the way the grass already was.
i gave everyone flowers and wondered why some villagers didnt like my gifts..i didnt know that certain villagers like certain things.
oh and i kept trying to leave the valley...and thought something was wrong with my game cause the sprite wouldnt leave...i was soooo dense..

My first game was FoMT. I did some pretty unintelligent things on my first file. I was REALLY looking forward to winning one of the cow festivals. I took very good care of my cow and was really mad that I didn't win. In my frustration, I attacked my cow repeatedly with my tools... and later found out that wasn't such a good idea.

I think I was also under the impression that you could drown your dog or chickens? I believe I tried that once or twice.

Another thing that still happens to this day is that I would make money and would not want to spend any of it! In fact, I think I set a threshold I didn't want it to fall under... consequently that prevented me from ever upgrading the house, getting married, etc. I don't do it as obsessively anymore, however, but I still am a bit stingy with my money on these games (and in real life too. :P)

Harvest Moon 64.

I was amazing at it. :)

My mom rented it from blockbuster when I was six, because I was interested in it. And, I later came to own it. I married Elli in my game, but it took me 7 years in-game! And, I did a total of 10 years. And, I was, like, a billionaire! I never had that much money again...Until the billion gold glitch for Harvest Moon DS. I named my Dog Qest(It was supposed to be Quest, I was six and didn't know how to spell it. ) And, my son's name was Bobby. And, my character's name was my family's last name. And, my horse's name was Fudge. :)

My first file is... still going. It's on AWL, which I bought as soon as it was released, and I did reasonably well. Marrying Celia was a slight regret, along with buying that goat. <__<

Anyway, I traded to game in without having finished it, because I had become more interested in the HM handhelds. I bought another copy off Amazon a few months ago, determined to complete it, and dug out the old memory card.

Still haven't finished it... but I will! XD

Surprisingly good, if i think over it again
I mean, I was playing BTNFG, with totally zero knowledge of japanese and harvest moon basic gameplay info

but i still managed to make Cliff stay, went for date in some festivals (Goddess, Starry Sky), have a nice farm, have yellow/orange heart with bachelores, even though some townspeople are still angry with me cause i gave them junks or wrong answer xD

It makes me wonder myself how could i and my brother managed to played it

Wow, a lot of people started with AWL.

I remember my first was AWL too. I didn't know you could get married, then one day I read the instruction booklet and was like "OMG. Marriage!!"

So I went and proposed to Muffy. And she said no and I didn't know why. So I went to Celia. She said no too. Then Nami was my last resort, and she said no as well. And then, like, a week later I was on the internet and realized I actually had to get them to LIKE me before they would marry me. Lulz.

My first Harvest Moon was the original for SNES, when I was about 6 or 7. Man, did I SUCK. If it wasn't for my brother, I would have never figured anything out.
For about the first season or two when I didn't get any help from him, my days only consisted of giving Ann something from the mountains and chopping a stump or two xD
Then my brother helped me with crops and animals, which eventually led to me figuring everything else out, though in a very poor matter. I did much better in the second playthrough.
After that HM, I just kept getting better and better when I played the new ones as they came out. Though I'd have to say, I still kinda sucked up until my second playthrough of BTN xD

i didn't know:
-how to run OTL
-where tools were
-how to get food
-where to buy things
-that i had to give gifts to get people to like me  (needless to say i stayed a bachelor for about 10 in game years)
-why i couldn't ship everything
-how to get animals and crops

eh...

edit: woot! 600th post!

My first game was HM 3 for the Gameboy. I was definitely confused the first season, and I know that I wasted seeds because I didn't realize I had to till the ground, but after that I got the hang of it pretty quickly. By the end I was raking in money and had maxed out my animal barns, but since I was playing as a girl I got married and got the Game Over screen.
