The many things you'd want to change about Harvest Moon
Uhhhh
-Animal colors, like a grey horse or a brown goat, they have those y'know
-Ability to put buildings where you want like in MM
-More interesting dialogue, like for the people to actually notice when you've talking to them 50 times in a row
-More outfits, the ones in AP are really cool, but who tills feilds in a 12,000 dollar dress?
-Customization when it comes to the main character, just like hair color and style, eyes, and skin color
-Loading times, seriously Marvelous, your're movin' backwards here
Aaaaaaaannnndd...
-Sociopaths, like someone who was nice on the outside but mean and manipulative on the inside, I'd hit that :3
-Along with more interesting children, they seem...dull in AP, sparkly and pretty, but rather boring and unoriginal, yeah you can dress them up, but I dunno, just seems like they could have done better with the personalities, seeing how they had more in ToT

I don't have that many complaints but..
-More Barn space, possibly as big as the barn from AWL
-Actual great events! I find that the Developers always have to get lazy at this part for some reason. Come on give us something awesome! Make a twist or something like Christmas and a actual big horse race.
That's all from me. =d

The plot is as pale as they could possibly make it. NOTHING happens. A lot of other town-building sims (Dark Cloud, etc.) have had more interesting plots or at least something that keeps you playing longer than just maintaining and world building.
I understand that a lot of the programming is "hidden", that is to say, involved with weather, crop growth, influencing others, friendships and relationships, invisible point systems, and other processes that you just don't see. You only see the effects.
HOWEVER I think this is somewhat old fashioned for video games and we could definitely use some more visible fun stuff.
Bigger worlds, more animals, more people, more sidequests, something like Final Fantasy with farming, or Rune Factory with less battling.
It is hard to strike a balance between action and sim, but I felt RF did a really good job. HM in general is just really formulaic and basically hasn't changed since the ones on the N64.

I agree with the formulaic part. I felt like the sprite collecting, music note collecting, and rainbow building plot points were attempted and failed side quests. Maybe if you had to slowly earn your farm first and not have it just handed to you by the mayor for whatever reason, or if you could visit other towns (without having to connect to another game). I want a few more drastic changes.
i don't know about the rest of you, but, i would like some cuter guys. the bachelorettes are always much cuter than most of the boys. yeah yeah, i know know that a personality is important, but this is a video game, so i want really cute guys with good personalities [at least for that bachelors anyway]
and when i say that, i don't mean that they should all have the same personality, i mean, in Harvest moon games today, all the guys are all nice deep down. can't we have some people who are just plain jerks?
also, more colorful villagers. now, they all pretty much the same. in most games, i don't even bother to talk to them. many have a pedophile or something, not an obvious one, but like, a guy who keeps talking about how 'cute' one of the village's little girls are. and they could have a random event where the pedophile is talking to a little girl and her mother comes and gets really pissed off at him. i'd love to see that.
i would like to see the people actually react if you're stalking them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
my idea for character customization: have the main character start out the same, but have a hairstylist in town that you can go to and get your hair dyed and styled differently. also something like a tanning bed where you can change your skin tone. hmmmm.... and for eyes, you can get colored contacts to change them.
i like the idea of more clothes. but, i think farming in a gothic lolita dress would just be weird [looking at you AP] maybe have two different kinds of clothes, one for farming and one for events. like on the day of the event you can get a message asking you if you want to dress up.
i agree with an earlier post that there should be more special characters. like that bear and the mermaid chick. it's a video game after all, it would be a bit boring if it was completely set in reality. also, i like the idea of the harvest goddess not needing help. i'm not sure which game this is [thinking it's StH] but in one game you could make a wish to the goddess and it might come true, like asking for good weather or more friendship points with someone. i like that idea a lot. it makes her seem more like a goddess instead of an overgrown sprite. and cut back on the sprites! i want some to be in the game but 101 is too much.
i agree with many of the posts about festivals so i won't say anything about that.
i think the town should be bigger too. you can't be best friends with everyone in town, so something with more people would be good, like in IoH. i've never played the game myself, but i liked the fact that you could get so many people to your town, so many that you couldn't know them all by name.
aging would be good, like in AWL. i would like to play as my child and have him/her get married to a rival child.
that's all i can think of for now, i'll post later if i can think of anymore

That all would be very very coolMoeru wrote:Oh yes, I'd especially like it if other people made an effort to woo YOU. Bring YOU gifts, rare items, big fruits, money, etc. I'd like to see people react when they realize you work 12 hours a day on the farm, and perhaps OFFER to buy your cows, produce etc. Like they come to ME.
Agreed. I think that the other characters should feel more strongly and independently about you as a whole; they shouldn't need to be prompted to like or dislike you, but have the ability to develop opinions on their own.strawberrysundae wrote:That all would be very very coolMoeru wrote:Oh yes, I'd especially like it if other people made an effort to woo YOU. I'm pretty sure there's one game where the girl gets tired easily while pregnant...I can't remember which right now, though.Princess Keira wrote:I think that you should get more easily fatigued when your character is pregnant--not at an annoying level or anything, just like it is permanently raining.
