When browsing through other forums I've heard that this game is really complicated, frustrating and hard. Can anyone who's played this game already tell me if it's really that difficult?

The game isn't really that hard. The hardest things are:
- sun/weather system related with growing crops
- the fact you cannot avoid the hurricanes/snowstorms by turning a DS off. You can't change the weather.

If you were to ask me, the difficulty level is pretty much the same as IoH except you no longer have to unlock villagers, besides a few people. I can't read Japanese, but I still managed to get by with a menu translation guide and also with the help of some people here.

Is there still the hunger system? I'm not sure what exactly drove me crazy in IoH, but it was just really difficult and not all worth the work.

Indeed, hunger is still there last I checked. The diner and cafe are on the island from the start however!

It seems less like a deserted island that way, unlike the old game

Wait... huh? The last game was an entirely deserted island, however this one is not from what I've heard via some people with a Japanese copy of the game themselves; Or it won't be deserted for very long because I definitely heard the diner/cafe comes with this isle. Of course there will still be « Cow Poopoo » tons of people who move in as for main villagers, but only 8 sub villagers in total this go around.

Pretty much everyone and the buildings are there from the start. From what I remembered, the only people you unlock are: Will and Suiren/Lily, Shea and Wada, Witch Princess and her niece, and Alisa and Nathan.

I kind of preferred how you unlock more people like in IoH instead of having everyone there from the start though. It makes doing things seem more rewarding :) .

if im not mistaken, i think the new mining system is suppose to be harden than in IOH. so u cant make money as easily that way. but a good thing is that u can use the d-pad to move instead of the stylus if u want.

u can still unlock alot of stuff. like all the islands.
im still looking forward to this game though. but i liked IOH....

Oh that would be great if I can move with the D-Pad. I hate using the stylus for everything.

Bummer. I wanted to unlock villagers again; I liked that challenge, it was fun for me. Ditto with the diner and cafe and most things too. Didn't want the hunger system though, same with the crops system, even though I got use to it after awhile. xP

Seeing everyone who loved to unlock the stuff makes me feel like a lazy farmer. I hated un-locking people, Ijust wanted to grow crops, et cash and get married to whoever I wanted whenever.

And the game is kinda like IoH in my opinion, a lot of the characters are the same and such.
