This is a bit of spamming since nobody asked for the information in particular, and it is far from a guide's amount of material for helping out. Just thought you'd care to know for future reference and so you can stay out of trouble should you ever choose to create an account.

Cheers for trying to give everyone information though. Very helpful of you!

The amount of stairs going down & their position is determined once you enter the floor. Smashing rocks doesn't help you find the stairs. If you want to find the stairs w/o spending much energy, you have to save once you enter the floor & look for it, once you find it, load the file & dig on the same spot.

Note that since the # of stairs going down is determined randomly, sometimes there will be no stairs going down, even if you dig the whole place, that's why if you're going down, you should use the 2 save files, one to save before going down & one to save after going down. This is know as the save files trick...

Since i only have one file, i save when i found the stairs, and then i go down, if i find the stairs in just a few hits then i'll save, but if i hit 4 squares or more and still nothing, i reload, its much harder. Something thats helps is that i know that its not possible to have a dead end in a floor thats big (right?).

no..
I'm 99.9999999% sure that I've had a dead-end floor that's BIG!!! Not the long ones, which are the same width as normal... I mean the BIG BIG ones lol

Really? I havent had anything like that, i find that all the mine levels other that the small ones (the ones where the whole mine can fit on the screen), don't have any holes.

well... The last Mine i "ventured" in was the Spring mine, (I ill find the Kappa jewells in one month's time [Game Time] but that's un important), and I am definitely sure that I had dead-end floors on the Medium size ones... A lot more on the normal small size though.... :?

Wait, there is a medium size? Well maybe there are holes there, but there are none on the huge ones right?

I would guess:
  • big ones - 99.9% there will be stairs
Medium ones - 95% there will be stairs
Small ones - 90% There will be stairs
But this is ONLY from person al experience and is ONLY an estimate. I have no sourse date to back this up! :)

What was the double post for?

That looks reasonable, but im sure there should be 100% chance of stairs in the huge ones.

Usually, in the big ones, there are like 5 stairs going down.
