Getting to the bottom of the mine is easy if you have at least 130,000 g and don't mind saving really often.

Just buy 13 stacks of 99 chocolates from Chen's and intentionally go into the pitfalls to go down floors. Don't bother digging unless you're directly above a floor you need to go on. Gorge on chocolate whenever you have less than 80 stamina, and just keep falling until you hit the bottom.

Don't bother smashing rocks on anything but the major floors (100, 125, 150, 250, 251, 252, 253, 254). All the others are a waste of time and energy unless you really need a orichalc or adamantite.

Watch out for floor 100 though, you must dig to get out of that floor.

Also, don't bother making hot milk or hot chocolate. You're better off just turning the milk into cheese and buying chocolate with the profit.

Three stamina, but something small can really add up when you buy that much of it. To get the same effect with egg soup, you need to have 205 eggs.

Thanks for the advice. :) But chocolate doesn't seem to give much stamina...but I guess in that big of a bundle it could be helpful.

I have around 150,000 gold right now...but I really want to save my money to get a greenhouse. But I know that will take at least another year in the game >_<. But at the same time I want a better watering can, mine is driving me crazy!

You don't have to choose. Before wonderfuls, it's a profit of 500k a trip if you break every rock on the major floors and hit every major floor.

This requires a lot of cautious saving.

Wow, that is a lot of money.....
But that's a big risk too!!!! If I spend $130,000 on chocolate and don't make it to the bottom, that's a huge loss! That is a lot of pressure.

It's why you have to be really careful. You must make sure you hit all the major floors.

Save whenever you're within 5 floors of them, so you can load if you overshoot the floor you need. Save after smashing every few rocks in case you fall into a pit when you don't want to and have to load again.

Remember, the major floors are 100, 125, 150, 250, 251, 252, 253 & 254. Any two of those floors are worth more than the rest of the mine put together. So don't smash in the rest of the mine unless you really need the oricalc or adamantine (50 & 25 respectively, but you can get some in floors 250-254)

If you want to be safe, buy 15 stacks of 99 chocolates and do your first dig on a clear or cloudy day. I never need that many chocolates, but I buy that many anyway because it causes me to be less stressed. Less stressed = more fun. Once you get an orange wonderful or two, profit is pretty much guaranteed, but you still need to be extra careful.

Thanks so much for the advice. It is so helpful. I think this will be my plan when I get a little further in the game and I have a bit more money.

May I ask what year or how far along in the game were you when you first cleared the cave?

Sometime in summer of the first year. I can only remember because I did it by a much more complicated method and used tomato salads. It was only once I did the math that I realized I could just use chocolate.

I don't play like a normal person. Don't feel bad. I'm just insane.

For the first half of the year, I wasn't playing in a manner that most people would find comfortable. I was growing way more crops than my stamina bar would allow simply because I knew they wouldn't die if neglected. I also fished like crazy in order to unlock enough subvillagers to get the cafe so I could grow more crops in a day.

I was also really lucky and got three or four pirate treasures.

LOL. Well thanks.
Hey what do you recommend buying at the cafe? I always buy a soda (grape, orange, etc...) because they are the cheapest. Do you think they are a good bargain?

Another sign of my insanity is that I actually did the math on this for my own purposes.

Buy cake. It's by far the most cost-effective.

LOL! Good job. So cake will give you the most stamina for the money? Thanks! I will try that :]

How many harvest moon games have you played? You seem like an expert o_o.

Just the original through emulator, Island of Happiness, and Friends of Mineral Town.

I'm pretty much an idiot. I just use the website's guide and do my own math in Excel. It's not a lot of skill.
