You can go into like Game Stop and put some money down for a pre-order, it doesn't require a credit card.

This is ONLY for pre-ordering at Gamestop. I'm not sure how other stores do it, but I imagine it's the same way i not similar.
Harvest Moon Sunshine Islands is, as of right now, set for 11/10/09. It is $29.99 and there will be a player's guide coming out as well for the game for $19.99. Guides aren't reservable yet, but WILL be. For those of you who want the guide as well, definately pre-order as stores tend to only get in 1 or 2 guides. Plus, you will get 10% (ie $2) off the guide as well so it saves you money which everybody likes. (With Edge card it's 20% off $4) To pre-order anything is a minimum of $5 dollars per item and goes towards the price of the game. It is nothing extra that the store charges you. When pre-ordering you get a copy in stock for you and it is held for 48 hours. You should also get a automated phone call saying your game is in and ready for pick up.
Please note that as of today it is NOT a street dated game so that means it will actually SHIP out to stores on the 10th and won't arrive til the 11th. There is also nothing yet about any pre-order exclusives, but I will keep you guys updated on that.
Hopefully this answers everyone's questions about pre-ordering. And let us hope that this time Sunshine Islands doesn't get delayed by a couple of days because it got stuck in customs like Island of Happiness did.
That one made me laugh because I waited so long for my game!

Oh, I also forgot to say that pre-ordering is like a pre-layaway. You can put money down on it til either the game comes out or you pay it off fully.
I believe if you pre-order the game online that is a full pay only. You also get to select which store you wish to pick it up in.
Okay, NOW I think i covered everything.
