That's an innocent theory, therefore it is false. XD
Theory: Rick is Rod's son from his elopment with Ellen (while she could still walk, and before he married Lillia). But they eventually decided to come back to Mineral Town, because Ellen needed to take care of Elli, and stu. And Rod fell for Lillia, but he had gotten a disease from ellen, and passed it on to Lillia, hence why both of them are sick. And so Rod, after lillia gave birth to popuri, and she grew up a bit, he went off to "find a cure" (find a girl who could better satisfy his needs)
