I'm getting to the point I'll be able to soon afford grass seeds to get a cow. But I want to know, how many 3x3 squares should I start out with to be keep my first cow fed? I am thinking 5 is a good number.

I'd say 5 is probably a good number, yeah. Just make sure to leave some more space so you can add more grass in later once you get more cows/sheep. The option of buying some fodder from Barley is pretty much always there, so you should be fine. :D

5 is pretty much okay. It's better than one but you have to remember you can still buy fodder from Barley. It is important for outside days for the expensive milks.

I plan to keep my cow indoors until I got the large and gold milk. I don't want it to skip right over to P milk since I'm trying to complete the shipping list. So, just enough to keep it fed indoors. I will also plant more as I get more animals in the barn of course. Thanks for the advice though. :lala:

Well I've been playing Harvest Moon 2 and 3 where you HAD to buy at least 6 bags of seeds in order to buy animals, now when i start buying cows and sheep, i usually plant 6 or more ^_^ anyone else experience the same?

not really..
I usually just buy however much fodder I can afford, and then use foraging/crop money to get grass seeds... Then you get all of the produce levels... :)

I think I would plant a total of 12 little squares of grass per cow, so like a bag and a third of seeds, I'm pretty sure that gave the grass enough time to regrow after it got eaten. But if you plant more then you can cut some for reserves too.
