Question about opening more floors in the mine

On my old file, the most I have ever opened was 100. My question is, do I have to destroy lava stones too or can I just keep smashing rocks in order to open up more floors? In my current file, I have destroyed 89 lava stones and about 1,200 rocks but I've only opened up 50 floors of the mine so far.

The depth-access to the mine is determined by the number of mining points you have. Smashing stones and extinguishing lava bubbles both help to raise your point total. You need 5000 points total to get past floor 50 and onto floor 75, and 10000 is floor 100:

1 = smash stone, use hoe, extinguish lava, go down stairs, fall down a hole
2 = find an item, ship an item
15 = find a new item in the mine
100 = participate in the mining festival
500 = 3rd place mining festival
700 = 2nd place mining festival
1000 = 1st place mining festival

So, you can get a rough estimate by going into your Assets menu and looking at your Mine Info page.

- all of the numbers on the top screen (rocks broken, times fallen, etc.) count for 1 point each.
- the number of discovered items is on the touch screen, right under the red gem of the mine info menu. Usually will be "X / 21". Multiply X by 15 and add that to the top screen number.
- each item you've shipped is worth 2 points, so go through the list and multiply each shipped number by 2 and add them together.
- add all 3 values together to get your mining farm degree value.

Hm, I see. Is the lowest floor still 255 like in IoH?

Yes, but you need 40,000 mining points to unlock it.
