I would get married either way! I'd spend all my time inside if there was no marriage...sort of like I do once I'm married anyways!
As for the villagers saying things about my family, on file 2 when my son with Julius was fully grown, I talked to Chase and he said "If kids are picky eaters, it's the parent's fault.". So I went to the beach, grilled some seaweed (resulting in a failed dish) and gave it to him, hence the following line: "You really hate me, don't you?". I sat there for a few seconds and was like O__o "Noooooo...I just hate when you say rude stuff like that!"

I should have lived at the seaside plot and married Toby instead. Haha.
Don't forget though that since you live alone, you get to be both mommy and daddy to the mini-goddess.
I like the way you think! We can all nap all day eh?
Yeah, only you don't really have to interact with the thing. Talk to it and your good. Don't even need to feed it or anything. At least it makes the house less lonely.
Oh yes, lots of naps. Naps are nice. Can just find a nice shady spot under a tree, cuddle and just enjoy the warmth of the sun.

I actually chose to be a male character (though a girl) and married Selena. Even without kids, I'd still want my character to get married. It usually seems to be a big part in the games.
I haven't actually gotten to the point of having a kid. So we'll see what happens when I do.

Lol. Well it's a crappy dish so it's no wonder they got upset! xDD

I love it when you don't need to feed the children. I personally would never go for the Goddess since she doesn't live with you, except for while playing Sugar Town in which case she does move in. It just gets rather lonely as you've said.
I like the sound of that, group cuddle!

There actually is a current Harvest Moon game coming out in which you don't have any children, and that game is Sugar Town. Since it is a sequel to Save the Homeland in which you could not marry it is a step up, ha ha..

(...Duh! That was my intention! He said it was
OUR [mine and Julius's] fault! Edward is not a picky eater, so why insist it!)

I don't really like any of the girls in FOMT so I'd just rather live as a bachelor for the most part. At least marrying the HG gives me bragging rights of some sort, right?
I wonder how Toby would react? I would certainly find it an amusing picture.

I like to be married. If this game was just farming, I would easily get bored with it. But I love fighting for someone affection, winning it, and spending my life with them.
Also, having kids is really exciting, or so I think.

True. I think that I would probably go nanners if I bought an HM game and it said on the back of the case: "Guess what HM fans? YOU CAN'T GET MARRIED! HAHAHA!" I would probably scream as if I just
saw a really big spider! I hate bugs!
BLECH!

My favorite part of the harvest moon games is when I get married. I love choosing a husband and living my life with him. Having kids is cute and exciting too ^_^

I like the option in HM to get married, but I mostly just stay single for most of my HM life. In ToT and AP I don't plan to get married until I completely finish the plot. I'm nearly done with the plot in ToT, but having a hard time choosing between Gill and Chase. >_____>
It'll get even harder to chose between husbands and wives in AP because of the diverse children.

I do love getting married on this game,
But this time around I'm going to spend more time on farming and such.
