Here are the Pokemon I associate with each of the characters:
Skye – Lugia. Skye actually greatly resembles a character I drew a long time ago, who was supposed to be the human version of Lugia.
Rock – Slakoth
Gustafa – Hypno
Marlin – Umbreon
Griffin – Farfetch’d
Carter – Bronzor
Cliff – Eevee
Gray – Growlithe
Kai – Marshtomp
Trent – Bayleef
Rick – Combusken
Gourmet – Munchlax… sorry, can’t think of anything else that would suit him…

Celia – Bellossom
Nami – Persian
Lumina – Espeon
Flora – Aron or Beldum

from memory, gray is the tool upgrade guy... so, since it would involve melting metal a bit, a fire pokemon would be good to help with it
