Demon's Soul comes out in a matter of days, 5 to be exact.

For those unfamiliar, it IS a game made in Japan that follows a wrpg sort of style to it. It is harder then most other RPG's and requires more strategy. You choose between melee or magic type of style and what's more, there is online capability where you can watch how others died, get hints and clues from others who have played the level, and as you get farther even co-op or have somebody come in and try to kill you. All optional of course, it is all just means to enhance your single player adventure.

So, if your a fan of RPG's I'd say check it out as it comes out pretty soon. It is out in some other places in English if your impatient, but you'll have to import. But the US should be getting it in less then a week so what's 5 days? So... anybody else interested in this game?

Edit: OH! For just 10$ more you can even get the strategy guide and a collectible outer slipcase that comes with the deluxe edition. Not to mention a spiffy cover!

I've been hearing a lot about this game but I may have to give it a miss, as lame as it sounds I prefer jrpg's (technically this is one, but you know what I mean) and it's not doing itself any favours by coming out at the same time as Tree of Tranquility and Rune Factory Frontier's European release as well as Uncharted 2.

Though yeah everything I heard has been positive and this gen really needs some rpg's. Definitely worth a look if wrpg's are your thing.

As far as I have seen, the game does follow a linear storyline though. .-. Is it because it doesn't have an anime like style to the graphics? Or that it takes place in a Midevil setting vs. a modern or fuedal japan?

Hmm or perhaps that the combat takes place on the entire map instead of a battle screen?

It kinda is the graphics but not because they're not anime style, I can live without gigantic eyes and taste the rainbow colours but this whole theme and style in particular doesn't appeal to me.

I like JRPGs a lot too but OMG. When I got my PS3 the other day for my birthday I was like looking up all the RPGs it has and I found this game and I was stoked. I never realized it was coming out so soon.

The story sounds so freaking epic :>

@Suiko: Ah I see. I actually like WRPG's more then JRPG's. I just find myself enjoying them longer and more fully. Though, Demon's Soul does look rather delicious. :3 So the dark and realistic graphics don't bother me, instead I find it rather gorgeous.

@Sai: If your looking for RPG's, maybe you'd be interested in Dragon Age: Origins? I'd also look into Oblivion if you don't have it for the PC or X360 as well.

Ooh I was thinking about that one too. Nope don't have Oblivion for anything yet, I heard it was good. Haha if only I had money for all of them xD

I'd say it's definitely something you should look into. If you've played Fable or Fable 2, think of that on major steroids. That is just... one way to describe it. Or, if you've played Fallout 3, it is a lot like that only with a more Medieval/fantasy theme to it vs. post-apocalyptic.

Back to Demon's Soul, is anybody worried about the difficult every reviewer has commented on? I am rather excited to check out this game.

Difficulty can make or break again. However there are some great games that are really hard. And I'd feel more accomplished if I beat a boss or got past the one part I've been trying to get past in a hard game.

Wow, this game looks amazing.
It looks so dark...and just wow it makes me wish I had a PS3.

It does look and sound difficult/complicated, but that makes everything seem a lot more rewarding.

Well, when I get it which will probably be 2-3 days after it's been released I can give you a review of the game Unown. Always wanted to try writing one anyway. Almost did for Persona 3. x3

But yes, hard games are always more exciting. Getting past a certain area, as well as showing off how freaking badass you are is always enjoyable.

Quite enjoyable.
Better than getting through an area quickly or beating a pushover of a boss.
Those arent as rewarding.
