Ah, my favorite harvest moon... just thinking of playing it brings a big ol' smile to my face.
My favorite rival? Cliff, all the way. He's always my favorite, but this is my favorite version of him. Why? 'cause of the bird, of course.
My favorite bachelorette? That's a mite harder. I used to like Karen the best, but now I kinda like Elli and Maria the most. It's a tough one.
What I like most about it are the little random scenes, especially since I don't think anyone's documented how many there are and how to trigger them in a clear way, so every time I stumble across one, it feels like I found a secret treasure.

Oh man, I just love how blunt Gray is. "Weird guy..."
x3 He just never fails to make me laugh.

This makes me want to dust off the 64 and pop the game in. Been waaay too long since I played.
Favorite bachelorette is a hard pick, because I do love every girl. They're all full of win and awesome. Karen eeks out just slightly ahead of the rest because I think her home-life is the worst, and therefor she needs the farmboy and love more than anyone else.
Bachelor will always be Gray. He's blunt, rude, and has a past that explains it very well. I always wanna hug him! And I agree, he was much more awesome in the 64 than in the later incarnations. (Esp DS/Cute. Who gave the grouch Prozac, huh?)

I've never played the 64 version, but hearing all these comments makes me want to give it a try. I've played Harvest moon for what seems like 9 years and I have yet to try this game. In my experience N64 games where just the best. Especially the Zelda games. I want to try this now. <3

I believe all HM games are worth a try Nevur. ;3 Like those old GB games are never played anymore but they are all really good too.

I wholeheartedly recommend this game to anyone who hasn't played it, as it is in my opinion the best HM (I've played AWL, MM, FOMT, ToT, DS).
If you can get your hands on it, buy it. I got it for about 25 dollars at my local Game Crazy. It was the ONLY N64 game there, and it was the game I was looking for.
The random events are awesome, and they are undocumented, so it is quite an accomplishment to get some of them. You get to enter the room of the girl you are wooing on a rainy day, you get to help them when they break their ankle. The whole game just develops on the characters more.

Looks like I'm going to have to dust off my N64 and go game hunting. You're all making it sound so awesome. It would certainly help time pass as I wait for AP.

I'm pretty sure its kinda implied elli is overweight. Well, nobody except gourmet judge really LOOKS overweight, but I get the feeling she is pudgier than the other girls
i always thought that she was curvy and womanly, not exactly overweight, but since all the other girls are so thin (and japan has even higher pressure on girls to be super super thin than we do here...), she feels like she's fat.

aw I loved insecure Elli <33
she was so sweet.
64 is by far my favorite harvest moon game. It wasn't just the people but it had a special small town thing feel about it. It was just so original.

i understand what you mean.
it's like.. it feels like an actual small town nestled away in the mountains somewhere instead of just a set of buildings that a bunch of townspeople happen to live in, in the middle of who knows where. the mentions of nearby towns, the rich history (especially keeping in mind that it takes place two generations after SNES), the people and how they act toward you (often apprehensive at first, but then they warm up to you), etc. it's all just so lovely~
i also like how everyone has multiple lines of dialogue and you get a random one instead of the same one over and over until the end of time.

Didn't Elli work in a bakery? Hell I'd get a lil pudgy if I did!

she did~ i think it suits her better than being a nurse, to be quite honest.
i think it's funny how jeff is always trying to fatten up popsie. he likes girls with a little more meat on them, which would be totally adorable if it wasn't so creepy that he practically marries his daughter. XD

Yeah, Jeff as a bachelor always rather creeped me out... he's definately not a DILF imo.

And Popuri's like "I'LL HAVE THIS AND THIS AND THIS." And Elli's like "... D:" cause she thinks she's fat and envies Popuri for not getting fat after eating so much. Popuri and Elli's little relationship was rather cute.

Aha ha, I haven't come across this scene just yet. It does sound as if Popuri has quite the high metabolism!
