I played BTN and didn't bother with 64 because I thought they were the same and I just recently found out that they are not.
So i want to play it.
badly.

I love that scene because it's funny and sweet at the same time. Cause Jeff comes in and then it gets all cute about him talking about his love of girls who are a little bigger and aww. Even though Elli/Jeff is rather off, it's still cute.

HM 64 defined many of the elements in modern harvest moon games. It is amazing, with MM following closely behind. I'm looking forward to Animal and Sunshine as well.

HM64! I personally think that it's the best one out of all the HMs that I've played. (MM, ToT, IoH, RF, DS cute, AWL, WL, GB, 2, 3, MFoMT)
My fav bachelor had to have been Gray! (Like most of everybody else... >.>;)
My fav bachelorettes were Potpourri and Elli, I always had trouble choosing between the two.
Though my fav memory scene was the childhood memory with Elli! :D

Like nearly everyone here, I love HM:64. Why it still isn't a Virtual Console title is beyond me, but I'm sure it will be someday.
The game made...sense. I mean, the characters had more real problems, and felt more human. And, their lives made more sense: Ann at an animal farm (with Gray as her brother), Karen at a vineyard (while working as a waitress, and with Gotz as her father), Popuri at a flower shop (with Basil as her father--no crazy, geeky brother in sight!)...it just made so much more sense than their lives in BTN/FoMT. Seriously, what were they thinking?
Sigh...I think I'll start playing it again.

i liked that they had real problems, too.
grey had all his host of issues that made him the way he was (instead of angsty for the sake of being angsty), karen had a failing family business, an alcoholic father, and an ineffective mother to deal with, etc. in BTN, all their problems seemed to fake or so petty (i'm bored of this town. i want to date a playboy. <3).
i gave the 64 girls' respective weights some thought. XD;;
popsie: clearly had a high metabolism. very thin and girlish.
ann: boyish figure. plays a lot of sports, so she's thin, but muscular.
karen: probably diets and watches her weight, but thin and has a nice figure. probably has an hourglass figure.
elli: curvey, soft, and womanly. not fat, but not thin, either.
mary: probably has a girlish figure. secretly diets, but secretly hordes food because she feels deprived. would get embarrassed if anyone mentioned her weight or her dieting.
i have wa~ay too much time on my hands. xD

Karen must have a rockin’ bod as she is a dancer. you have to be athletic to be good enough the whole village is talking about your skills

Plus good genes, her mom is a total milf.

Of course Karen has the best figure!
That's one of the reasons I love her, the other being her awesome personality.

Exactly! We could relate to them more. People with family issues, self-consciousness about weight, and depression are all problems that are still very relevant today, and it really helps us to connect with the characters.
It had more...drama. Especially Karen's life. Then there was Elli and Ann's relationship. Elli tries to help Ann with cooking (a futile attempt, which is funny because those roles were kind of switched in FoMT), Ann becomes depressed if she thinks you only go to the bakery to see Elli...why can't there be more of that in other HM games?
I loved all the events you could see, especially when the girls interacted. We really don't see much of that anymore.

Lol.

It's so cool that, even after all these years, we can still make assumptions like those about the characters.

I'd have to agree that this is the best HM game ever. It's just plain amazing, there's no doubting it.
As for problems and personalities, there's more info about them than I could type in a night. (I can try if you want)
Cliff had family and trust issues, Maria is trying to conquer her shyness... this can go on
I like how the parents would comment to Jack about their daughters. Lillia always made me laugh when she said that Jack should make the first move on Popuri. I kinda felt sorry for Doug/Hall because he was so worried for Ann not being able to find anyone (but I guess he did that in FoMT, too)
Like it was said before, the family trees actually make sense in this game. It fits well. Oh, did anyone notice that if everyone in the village marries than almost everyone is "related" to each other?

New topic.
What was your favorite festival, and why?
I personally loved the Ocean Festival. It was fun, and you got an awesome picture (and everyone in it had hilarious expressions).

When a girl or girls are pregnant, the New Year's is the best: I feel so guilty it's funny.
I also really like the egg hunt: it just is so awesome.

I like the egg hunt too. It was something from SNES that was carried over which is just neat in itself. I liked egg hunting in that game as well.
Sacred Night would probably be my second favorite.
