You see, you haven't truly played a good Harvest Moon until you've played Harvest Moon 64, my child.
I think that I love the Flower Festival the best. I also love all the Winter festivals and that each girl had their specific location for things like fireworks and Starry Night, and stuff.

i really liked a lot of the festivals. D:
i liked the firefly festival a lot... that one was sad, and i liked the egg hunt, of course. the ones with specific locations were always sweet. i loved all the races. i loved the flower festival and the sowing festival. it was cool to try the different milks at the cow festival, even if it didn't do anything. the new year's festival was EPIC, simply because any game that has an entire festival dedicated to outdrinking the rest of the village = amazing.

I know ;w;
I played it for a little bit ...with a bad thing.
But it wouldn't save, so that stopped quickly.
BUT AS SOON AS IT COMES ON THE VIRTUAL CONSOLE, IT WILL BE MINE.

ohh thinking of this game is making me get all nostalgic!! i get a certain feeling when i think of the festivals, especially the firefly one.
i def loved the egg hunt one, running around trying to match up the colors.
i remember when i had built the greenhouse and had it for about a week before a typhoon knocked it down, my mood the entire day was shot lol.
& i <3'd ann, she fed the chickens!! (right??)

Ann. HM64 Ann was the best, not innkeepers daughter Ann, but ranch owners daughter Ann :D
I loved how she always tried to meddle in other peoples business, sucked at cooking, denied that she could ever fall in love, had temper issues, and became increasingly awkward the more she grew to like you.
And her love of animals made her even more great. And she was cheerful and spirited, and best friends with Karen!
When are we ever going to see an HM as good as this?

I honestly agree with you. It was a gem in a pile of rubbish.
Although, I hope AP will be the closest thing we get to it after all these years.
I'm not even sure when or how the whole "AP is the next HM64" thing started. But I trust what the people who've played the Japanese version say about it, so I have high expectations for it.

Hmmm actually a lot of people such as yourself are saying it could be the next HM:64, claiming that ToT was almost there and AP could get it up there. It's the hype, and really I don't think that 64 is all that great. The controls were tedious, including walking around, the number of crops were so little, and fishing? Forget about it. Mining you cannot deny could have been done sooo much better. @_@ If your looking for a social game then yeah, but when it comes to farming simulations.... no.

Well me personally, I never thought the farming in 64 was the greatest thing either (mostly because there was too little time in a day to have like the ultimate farm)
But yes, I'm referring to the social aspect, all of the character relationships, the festivals, your family, the random cut-scenes....the things that made it feel so different from the others. And the things that actually made it fun.
It seems like AP has a better social system too, compared to the games that came after 64. But I honestly don't think it's going to come that close to it. More like, I'm just hoping I'll enjoy AP nearly as much as I enjoyed 64.

AP has a much, much, much better farming aspect to it IMO. In fact, I hate mining but in TOT it didn't bother me. The fact you have to refine your wonderful without knowing what they are bother me but... eh. The new mines look rather exciting now. Instead of falling down floors it looks like it has a sort of map planned in for it! As long as they keep the fishing as it was, or like how it is in One Piece(it's got a bit of a learning curve, but it's really exciting) that will be great.
Aaand, if you do not flirt with the candidate in ToT/AP and talk to them after your married/different gender they actually have a lot of personality to them that you will miss just dating them. They reveal worries, insecurities, and doubts instead of being one-sided happy-go-lucky people.

That's exactly why I'm excited for AP XD
Now, I just hope Natsume wasn't lazy with the translations. They weren't really in ToT, characters still did reveal things about themselves after your marriage.
I always appreciated in ToT/AP how you could put the rival marriages in place too.

i seriously doubt that anyone plays 64 for the farming. XD;;
i actually like the mining in 64 MUCH more than the mining in BTN, and since the mining in FoMT was... terrible, it's miles above that, for sure. @____@;;

My thoughts exactly.
I was just thinking, "Actually, I never really did much farming in HM:64...."
