Sunshine Islands Strategy Guide

((I checked and there weren't any active topics about this unless it's hidden. Like a ninja. ))

So are any of you getting the strategy guide? I ordered it from Amazon since it's way cheaper than getting 10% off with the game at GameStop. Generally, I just use the Ushi site since it's so much easier to find information on (hello, control+F), but having the guide is handy when access to the internet is limited.

The only thing I'm worried about is the guide missing a lot of information. For instance, I find that the IoH guide seems to be missing a lot of stuff - festivals, a calendar, etc etc. Or maybe it's just that Cher does a lot of extra (awesome) work explaining things in detail and adding other info.

Anyway. Thoughts?

Its information was organized oddly or something.

But no, I will not be getting the guide.
I'm not even sure if I'm getting the game anymore xD

After reading the negative opinions about the Brady's guide, I cancalled my order. Cher's site is fine to me.

yah its kinda a pain to find stuff. its not a long guide....159 pages, but if you wanted to look up a specific island for example, you have to go to the island section and flip through until you find the one because the table of contents lists things in big chunks. so thats kinda annoying. and at times it will list a little info about something in one section, then the rest of the info about it later on, so you have to flip back and forth and its a pain trying to find out something specifically. and no index...bad table of contents and no index make psu go something something.

there is an event calendar where it lists birthdays and festivals. theres also a section where it tells you what to do for each season for the first year and lists the festivals scattered through out it with a little blurb about the date, time, and what its about.

its crappy quality imo. but i do like having the book for when i have no internet access, dont have a printer to print out stuff id need...plus i kinda like the semi glossy pages. i bought it knowing it would be crappy. hm gets no love from brady games....or brady games just really « Snuggly Bunny » sucks nowadays.
dont pay the full 18 if you get it, amazon still has it for 12 i think.

and if you wanna know something specifically about it or the layout or whatever i can flip through it and tell ya

I was debating on getting it, but since people are saying it isn't very good, I'll use the guide on here. It's very thorough

@PSU: Yeah, that's what I was a little concerned about. I don't like not having the index and it's a pain having to flip from the table of contents to the page you want and back. Eh. But I got it for $12 on Amazon, so at least I'm not paying full price. :P

Maybe I'll just make my own index when I get the guide and tape it to the inside of the back cover, haha.

i got the guide myself and i find it helpful even though i think it couldve been indexed better. but i tend to write my own notes while playing the game so i usually refer to them and parts of the guide i use often.

I got the guide off of amazon. I tend to use the guide and the site depending on what my net access is like at the time. Though the site has always offered a lot more info

Hmm... it seems the guides for both AP and SI are really bad quality. Sesshomarulovesme made a thread in the Other Harvest Moon about the spelling/grammar errors and the incorrect information in the AP guide. Does the SI guide have major errors like wrong birthdays and stuff or is it just poorly put together?

Edit: You know you're a lurker when it takes you 3 years to get 100 posts. I guess I'm just in a posting mood these days.

My brother loves HM about as much as I do, and he's going to order it. I might flip through it, but I trust the Ushi guide enough if I really need to find something.

I've also heard it isn't very trustworthy. I doubt I'd waste money or time to buy the thing if it will have such basic mistakes as wrong birthdays or misspelled names.

I'm not going to get it, but I know that you can get it quite cheap from Brady Games if you use the coupon Natsume has posted on their twitter page (20% off on the price). It was the latest post when I posted this, but you can just scroll down if you don't find it (http://twitter.com/natsume_inc).

Anyway, I think it's enough to use Cher's pages when I need help with anything in the game. If I can't find an answer there, I just ask here at the forums!

So, the guide arrived about a half hour ago, and I have to say that I'm actually a little impressed with it. I really like the layout of this one (minus the blocked table of contents and the lack of an index). And the colors and pictures are all fun to look at. :3

Anyway, it's definitely not worth the full $18 since you can just as easily print out stuff from Cher's site or write it down, but I'd say $12 is a pretty good price for it (the picture on the inside of the back cover is especially adorable).
