I wouldn't be surprised if you asked about the codes for Pokemon. But HM? :?
Yeah, that's what I keep saying. I'd rather keep the competition going in my SI game, I don't want to use AR codes on it. I just stopped using them 'cause I got into a pretty bad incident a couple years ago...

Ummm, <b>Very Bad Things™</b> are actually NEVER supposed to be mentioned here, they're illegal. Go on Google and search them up, or something, but you should not talk about them here.

Thanks for the codes guys. This is the first HM game that I actually bought a AR for....I feel alot of the added features are a huge plus but they made other parts way too hard and time taking. While I dislike cheating in games this one I really felt was a MUST. I don't have all the time in the world to slowly play so this was very helpful for me.Thanks again!

Its true my friend completely destroyed her file because ONE mistake can really have a distructive effect on your game...and cheating really COME ON...you buy the game then cheat seriously no point in playing then

You just have to purchase one from Walmart, or any game store out there. I got mine at least 19.99, which isn't too bad if you want to part with some money...

really?? at my store its 69.95

ARs are not illegal, it's how it's used that's illegal. The hardware is perfectly legal otherwise it couldn't be sold. Downloading a game for free is the difficult point, legally.
The nuances of intellectual property is a very tough legal situation.
Who owns a game after you buy it? If you change the code, does it become a different game? Can you change the code on a game you buy? Can you write in a book after you buy it? Can you re-sell the scribbled-in book? Can you re-sell a game with edited code? It's very messy from a lawyer's standpoint.

Abiding by the discussion rules of the forum is another point altogether...

The "cheating takes the fun out of it" debate has only been going on since the dawn of TIME (people cheat at card games, you know) and people keep bringing it up... Personally i think it's all up to you...if you want to light the thing on fire instead of playing it, it's up to you, if that doesn't "take the fun out of it".

AR's are available in Japan for ~$20-$40. The R4 is more expensive and more questionable. lol

What country do you live in?

I decided to break Moeru's post into smaller parts so I could dissect and destroy everything more easily.

How it's used and the AR itself are not illegal.
Moeru wrote:Downloading a game for free is the difficult point, legally.
Why the hell would someone buy an AR if they are going to download the game?

There's nothing illegal about using codes and you are changing the values within the game's RAM when you use AR codes, the game hasn't changed at all. If you want to make that argument, you'd have to be referring to Very Bad Thing™ modding.

I don't recall anyone trying to sell a game after using an AR on it and if they did, there's nothing stopping them from doing so.

I think the point of my post was unclear, since you came in to destroy it. I am not against ARs or R4s at all.
"Why the hell would someone buy an AR if they are going to download the game?"
I was talking about R4's at that point. sorry. I meant that using an AR on a game you've purchased is a different situation than downloading the game to play on an R4.

I feel the need to be pedantic here, and make sure something is clear.

R4s/<b>Very Bad Things™</b> are indeed illegal. They are, after all, basically stealing the game. When you download the game for free rather than buying the game developer gets nothing for the game they made. It doesn't seem like a big deal, but game companies are made up of people who need money to pay the bills too. When they don't get paid for their efforts, that isn't right.

Cheating is something else entirely. Let's say you've bought your game. You've bought your AR. There's nothing illegal about using one on the other. You can do so, if you wish to.

I have used AR codes on HM games. On SI, I have one file where AR codes have been used, and one where I am playing it without the use of any cheats. Why do I cheat? Because I'm a grown person with a lot of demands on my time. I wish I could spend time playing the game from scratch, but I haven't picked up SI for more than an hour since last Wednesday.

So I got codes to make it easy on one file so that I get to have the benefit of being able to get more out of the game. Hopefully things ease up so that I can play the other file, the one without the cheats. But with Christmas coming up fast, I don't think so.
