I was just wondering how other people are doing catching better fish, so far i have:

35 different fish types
shipped 432 small fish

i have only gotten medium fish 3 times and i gave 1 to the diner for sashimi recipe and cooked the other 2. so i guess my question is why is it so hard to get better fish?

As you raise your fishing degree, you will start catching more fish.

well from what i calculate i should have around 4000 fishing degree points at least since i can't keep track of how many times i cast the rod, anyone know the levels at which you catch better things, cause i still get a whole bunch of boots, cans, bones, and branches.

Although I didn't catch any medium fish yet. Volcano island is a good spot to fish, I catch less junk in that island.

I think you need 5001 points to start catching medium fish. Even then the catch rate is terrible and on meadow island I was getting 10 small fish for every 1 medium fish (I think location is a factor too, because I have yet to catch a medium fish from my farm).

the place where you catch more junk is the river from your home! now we know why taro gave us that house =_=

well lately im catching less junk so.. i think im getting closer to medium fish :D

According to the site, it's invisible, which sucks. D: I'd love to see how many points I have, but no...

I still catch a lot of trash. I haven't caught a single medium fish yet. ._.

well you may not be able to see your exact points but you can calculate the gist of it, the site provides the number of points you gain from catching a fish, casting your rod into the water, how much you get for each new type of fish, and all the other points, you can see how many fish you catch, the types you catch, how many you shipped and so on so you can calculate a good approximation of your points. Also I find that fishing on the piers further out into the water like where will's boat is and where kirk docks his boat you get a lot less junk than fishing at other places.

I fish on volcano island and over 100+ fish from there, I've never received a boot or can. I did get quite a handful of fish bones though.
