I've played both and the farthest I ever got was Year 6 in BtN. In FomT i've only gotten to Year 2 I think..but I had more fun with BtN. Probaly because of the graphics and the hot house..Also what are the main differences between both games?

i like BTN a million times better. i love BTN, but i hate FoMT. :<

FoMT was way too robotic and tedious for my tastes. they got rid of a lot of the good festivals, the characters were made even more robotic in personality, and pretty much the only thing to do is set up a huge mega farm and then hire the sprites to take care of it so you can do some mega fishing and mega mining. it's all about making money and making this as big as possible, which i didn't like at all. BTN feels much more relaxed and laid-back to me. it's not as tedious. sure, you could probably play BTN like FoMT sets you up to play, but it doesn't work as well within the mechanics of the game because the sprites are less effective, the fishing and mining aren't so massive and crazy, and the characters are interesting enough that you can find other things to do.

I've only ever played the gameboy versions because I don't own any other gaming systems, so I don't really have an opinion. I've watched my friend play a different game (A Wonderful Life, I think).

I would enjoy at least trying out different versions. Because I enjoy the gameboy version, and, according to Nina, apparently the other games are much more enjoyable. xD

I love BtN, but I have to go with FoMT. It has most everything BtN has, and it's portable (Portability always adds points in my book).

I think FoMT was my first harvest moon game... It was hard, and I don't think I ever finished it... (I was young at the time, please consider) But I was horribly addictted and it was great.

FOMT for sure. The portability was a plus to me, and I never quite could get used to the tilted angle of the BTN farm. I found the right angles of the FOMT farm much easier to work with. I can't understand how they thought the tilted angle of the BTN farm was a good idea, or why they didn't add an option to adjust it like they did in HM64.

I'd say BtN because it was my first HM game. But where did the tomato and swimming festivals go in FoMT? And the goddess festival? D: They were pretty much the best three.

BtN. I know FoMT is the remake of it, but I'm still just so much better at BTN. I mean, It's so simple for me to get most of the stuff in the game done by year 2 already and I like having that kind of mastery over a game. :D

Not to mention it was the first HM I ever played and I have many many many many hours invested into it.

did you try changing the control scheme in BTN? the default one is nearly impossible to work with, but one of the others makes perfect sense (best with a controller with analog sticks, since the direction you point the stick in the the direction you go in). i just wish that BTN could go diagonally like 64, since it gets annoying to water crops when you have to run all the way around them instead of just turning diagonally. it's understandable, though, seeing that early PSX controllers didn't have analog sticks... (i think i still have one of those somewhere!)

i actually hated the controls in FoMT. i tried playing it again the other day just to see if my dislike of it is way out of proportion or not, and i couldn't even figure out how to play it. things aren't intuitive at all! it doesn't make any sense to have to push one shoulder button and one button to put things in your rucksack and then push the other set of buttons to take things out.

Yeah, I DID try changing the controller scheme. One came close, but I still never got completely comfortable with the controls.

Uh, FoMT for nostalgic reasons. Even if it's not a better game, it was what got me into harvest moon. I don't think the characters are robotic, some of them have really interesting stories~
