Either you used cheats ( because thats when games become corrupt) or you're using an emulator. It has to be one of those options.

This can legitimately happen on a cartridge game. It's happened to me twice in the last few years. Once on a GBA cart and once on a DS cart. The save data later came back both times. No cheats. Neither were Harvest Moon, though.

But are you saying that you couldn't save anymore? I'm not sure that's what you said.

the battery in your cart probably died. nothing you can really do about that, since i doubt natsume would take it back and replace it. :/

The battery couldn't have died yet. They said their data came back, but everything vanishes if a battery dies. And I think Nintendo replaces batteries if you really want to, but it wouldn't bring your save back.

I bought a Harvest Moon game last week and I had exactly the same as you describe..
My boyfriend looked at it and told me it was a fake game.. not an original bij nintendo. I couldn't save any file on that game and when I restarted it there was only 'Start'. My boyfriend laid his game beside this fake game and they obviously looked different, the image on the game was different and on the real game on the back there was 'Nintendo', on the fake game nothing....

I'm not sure if it's the same thing but...

While I was digging in the mine, on the game I worked for 4 real years, I went to save and... "Save failed." So I moved and tried to save again. It still didn't work. But in the place that you see what is saved in the slot, it said Empty. So I pushed the game farther in the Gameboy, incase it was a loose connection or something. But then the screen flashed pink and blue and green and yellow and made a weird noise. So I shut it off and it was gone. And I made a new game in the same slot, but it only saves half the time.

I got it used, though, so that might be the problem.

It does happen on old cartriges.
Just try and save your file on a computer, buy a new(er) game and transfer your file on that.

Unfortunately, new games are very rare...

how can you save GBA files onto your computer?
or are you talking about the downloaded version with a GBC.. i think?

exactly...

Soemthing similar happened to me, I wen't to bed one night (in game) and I never woke up. I turned the game off and my saved files were still there but wouldn't load! A few minutes later my files were working again but at the point where I last saved. However, I have never cheated on this game.
