I am close to hitting that number so thank goddess I can start getting fish that are worth something.
I am pretty sure they just increase your luck of actually catching stuff and I do seem to get less junk when I am fishing than normal.Anonymous Duck wrote:Adding a question, if you don't mind;
For the people who are fishing regularly, do the fishing sprites help towards the goal of obtaining large fish? Or am I getting their function confused? I haven't used the sprites yet.
I believe the fishing sprites reduce the time between bites and might reduce the amount of junk that you do catch. I also hear that the weather and time you fish has an effect. Sunny or clear weather will result in fish getting away 30% of the time while drizzly weather ups this to 40% and snowy or rainy weather is at 50%. Fishing in the mornings gives the least time before bites while fishing in the afternoon is when the fish are least active.
I FINALLY caught a large fish. Here are my fishing stats. You can use them to get a ballpark estimate of how much you have to fish to actually catch large ones.
Fish types caught: 53/143
Empty cans shipped: 161
Boot Shipped: 159
Fish Bone Shipped: 43
Seaweed Shipped: 11
Sea Urchin Shipped: 3
Fish (S) Shipped: 717
Fish (M) Shipped: 4
I had all 7 fishing sprites enchanting Lana's house, not sure if that matters. Also of note, I've been giving a lot of fish to Lana and the fishing sprites, so my actual number of fishes caught is probably a bit higher than the 717 shown (more realistically 750-760). Remember to always ship junk you catch since each of them is worth 2 fishing points.
